Relax friends. It's bargain hunting season.
Cool Hand Jim is on the case.

Holtby was a good signingDoyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 7:44 pmBwaaa haha haha haha .... Elmer was asleep at the wheel licking OEL’s feet. The Holtby signing is fine but he will need to find some defenders. Come on Iggy put down the jug of booze and get to work buds.
We don’t have the cash for Pietrangelo.
Exactly, too bad some Canuck fans can't be as cool as Cool Hand Jim.Megaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 7:47 pm Relax friends. It's bargain hunting season.

If they don’t add a couple decent d men to that scabby mess that’s currently there, I can’t think of a shittier D in the league. Old Man Edler as a#2, Myers as a #3, #Benn as a 4, yeah....no. Who’s left out there? Islanders and Canes have a surplus of D men. Hope they are talking to those clubs. Mackenzie Weegar is apparently available, pretty decent player. We don’t have much cash so this could be tough. Sounds like Frankie took the cheque book away. He’s a few years too late unfortunately.Cherry Picker wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 7:55 pm Can see if Toffoli will take the Tanev deal, go with a herd of rookie defencemen and try to out-score their mistakes. At least the rookie Dmen have good goalies backing them up.
I would have let both Tanev and Markstrom walk anyway so not upset other than they both picked Calgary. Nobody else made an offerCherry Picker wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 7:55 pm Can see if Toffoli will take the Tanev deal, go with a herd of rookie defencemen and try to out-score their mistakes. RS UFA defensemen left on the table.....Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 8:02 pmIf they don’t add a couple decent d men to that scabby mess that’s currently there, I can’t think of a shittier D in the league. Great point. Everyone seems to be forgetting that next season was always going to be a lean one with contracts coming off the books after it. Plus there is that pesky matter of the matching $11 plus $11 million contracts due Hughes and Pettersson that everyone seemingly forgets about in the feeding frenzy. Everyone that hates bloated free agent deals should be applauding Cool Hand Jim's restraint.ukcanuck wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 8:07 pmI would have let both Tanev and Markstrom walk anyway so not upset other than they both picked Calgary. The only one I was interested in keeping was Toffoli if for no other reason than what Benning gave up for him.
I don’t mind looking from within to replace Tanev and waiting till Erixxon beagle and rousel are off the books to go all in on the right free agent for a push
I get a kick out of you broom pushers who think managers are unable to weigh multiple scenarios and outcomes at one time.Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 8:14 pm Problem is it seems the management poured too much effort into OEL
Hamonic and Stech would be level best case scenario I guess, though you read Hamonic needs to be in Winnipeg for family reasons.Mëds wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 8:15 pmRS UFA defensemen left on the table.....Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 8:02 pmIf they don’t add a couple decent d men to that scabby mess that’s currently there, I can’t think of a shittier D in the league. Pietrangelo - a pipe dream, Jim would have to move out Eriksson and one of Sutter or Beagle.
Barrie - still a chance he comes at a discount, but our own-zone play would suffer.
Hamonic - I'd be good with this. Similar to Tanev, a bit grittier, but lately seems just as prone to injury.
Byfuglien - big pass on big Buff please.
Cody Ceci - Right shot. Stable, stay home, defensive blueliner. Could do worse, but he'd have to come cheap.
Mark Pysyk - Right shot. Can play both sides. Fairly mobile. he's 4/5 guy.
Sami Vatanen - Probably out of our price range, and rumor has it he's possibly headed back to Anaheim.
Troy Stecher - I want Jimmy to bring him back simply to give Topper mental fits.
Trevor Van Reimsdyk - Bottom pairing guy, probably a lateral move if he's replacing Troy. Slower, but bigger.
Right now it's
Hughes -
Edler - Myers
Juolevi -
Benn
Jimmy needs either Pietrangelo or two of those guys to avoid coming out looking like he completely shit the bed on this.
I'm not sure how we couldn't bring Tanev back at that price. It's the same dollars he had on the last contract. From what we've heard Tanev wanted to come back, so clearly the likes of Eriksson, Beagle, Spooner, Baertschi, and, to a lesser extent, Sutter, are biting us in the ass.
I get a bigger kick out of fast food workers like yourself who say the poisonous contracts are easy to move. They haven’t moved one yet Burger Boy.Strangelove wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 8:19 pmI get a kick out of you broom pushers who think managers are unable to weigh multiple scenarios and outcomes at one time.Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 8:14 pm Problem is it seems the management poured too much effort into OEL![]()
I don't think anyone is suggesting they didn't weigh the scenarios. I think they're saying the suits simply took their shot and missed.Strangelove wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 8:19 pmI get a kick out of you broom pushers who think managers are unable to weigh multiple scenarios and outcomes at one time.Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 8:14 pm Problem is it seems the management poured too much effort into OEL![]()
