The 49rs dealt with McDonald differently. Hosted their own internal investigation and loudly pronounced that they would take no action allowing due process in the courts first.

If what I'm reading in the sports news is correct, Peterson has a better chance of finding work meaning Russel Peters is right. Beat your kids. (not your wife)

It is a no with public relations debacle for the player, team and league.

TSN is reporting that the NHL is more than pissed with the Kings over this and is threatening a total ban of Voynov from the team facilities and staff. The relationship between Kings management and the league has been toxic with Bettman telling them they need manage their cap better and ownership asking if they need to have a cap cushion for bank bank robbers
Fran's take on the NFL
TARKENTON: I followed the Clippers thing. That owner [Donald Sterling] didn’t get indicted for any crime, but the racial comments he made were totally inappropriate, and we took a stand. The whole world and the NBA, we have zero tolerance to racism. And I think that’s right. I agree with that. But I also think we ought to have zero tolerance to child abuse and domestic violence. I don’t think [Peterson] should play again in the NFL. I don’t think Ray Rice should play again. Either we have zero tolerance, or we don’t. And what is more egregious than domestic violence and child abuse? I don’t know of anything, unless you kill somebody.

Poor Ballard...more injuries..could be career ending.

Thoughts here again are with Keith Ballard, who is such a good guy and just continues to have horrible luck with injuries. The latest is serious and could be season-altering at a minimum and career-threatening at a maximum.

He has three facial fractures and a concussion. Once the swelling goes down, doctors will decide whether or not Ballard needs surgery. He has been released from the hospital and is resting at home.

Even Chuck Fletcher admitted his concern. When I asked whether Ballard may not play again this season (which would likely mean at a minimum his Wild career is in danger because he’s in the final year of his contract), the Wild GM said, “This is serious. He’s had concussions before. I don’t know how many. We’re worried about that. Bones will heal. I don’t mean to make light of it, but his face will heal. But his hand was sticking right up. He was convulsing. This was scary. You could even see the reaction of the Islanders’ bench. They weren’t standing over him mocking him. They were scared.”
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Weird thing... it's like he knew he was destined for another concussion on that play

... and there was no way out.

Oh well, thank-you Keith for being such a fantastic whipping boy for us!

Every team needs a good whipping boy.

That is one nasty injury. Makes you sick watching him convulsing on the ice.

Not really a dirty hit. Ballard turned and tried to go low to avoid the hit. I thought Martin let up but it was how his face hit the top of the boards. In my world he gets at least two minutes for a hit to the head. Fine if you think it wasn't dirty, then two is enough, I don't think it was dirty. But if a players knows he will get two he will think twice about making that play.

By the way, Perry pulled a hernia after hearing the news.

Maybe a late hit if anything. Ballard turns around and puts himself in danger rather than just taking the hit. I think he made it a lot worse than it needed to be (or was meant to be).

Basically tried to duck it ...he turned and lowered himself into the boards then got hit..too bad, looked pretty ugly but he did walk off so likely no spinal issues....
I am he as you are he as you are me

Exactly, if he didn't duck and trying to ram, the outcome wouldn't be as serious. There's no guarantee for nothing but that's how i survived so far and what my experiences with my own body made are telling me.

That Ballard hit was nasty. Not nasty as in a dirty hit, but just unfortunate. He hit is head twice there. Once when his face was rammed into the boards, and another when his head hit the ice. Kind of a weird situation to put yourself in with the turn, duck and cover maneuver.

We shouldn''t be surprised.

His entire tenure in Vancouver was comprised of a similar style of play.

You mean shitty?

Hopefully Keith saved up a good chunk of that money he has made over the years and just retires, but he seems like kind of an idiot so he'll probably try to come back.

Turn, duck and cover.

Shitty.

Either one works and is aptly descriptive.

I was sure I read somewhere he was off to Toronto.
