Thinking the pick will be 8-12 once all is said and done - technically the Canucks would be picking 11 if the season ended today and we used winning % rather than points, given the team has played more games than anybody to this point. I’d expect Hughes, Kakko, Cozens, Dach and Podkolzin to be gone for sure but the rest are all over the map.

Forwards
Krebs - get a real Konecny vibe from him, and that’s something I really like
Boldy - another goal scoring winger would be nice
Turcotte - would be a nice pick, he should be higher but has been injured most of the year so far
Suzuki - versatile forward who would be a nice fit in the top 6
Zegras - another very good American centre
Newhook - not sure what to think given he plays in the BCHL. Could be very good but he’s a bit of a wildcard

D
Byram - would likely be my pick if he’s there, but I don’t expect he will be unless Nucks pick 6-8
Robertson - big dman who has been trending up
Seider - wildcard this year, big RH dman from Germany who could be a steal

Not a really deep draft but still quite a few good players. I’d like to see Jimbo move up and make a splash given it’s in Van - would give up anything save Petey, Boeser, Bo or Hughes, I’d even put the 2020 1st on the table if the deal was good enough. Might take my kid to watch it so hopefully there’s some drama.

Excellent post Diehard, I think everyone with the exception of Blob knows now we won’t be drafting top 10. Still good players to be found between 10 and 20. Just keep adding to the pool. Depth!!!

Peyton Krebs looks like a future solid top 6 scorer.
*first-overall pick in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft.

LW Krebs - 5'11-181lbs
plays with determination and passion … exciting player … puck follows him on the ice … accurate wrist shot … always in motion … dynamic play, -ISS Hockey 2017
Krebs seems to have a good head on his shoulders, good character, leadership qualities, was also named captain on a team not full of dynamic talent I heard, so he's not getting all the points he could get.
Along with leading the ICE in points so far this year, Krebs has taken 16-year-old first-round bantam pick Connor McClennon under his wing.

Krebs tries to pass along any nuggets he picked up last year while going through his first year in the WHL.

“It’s pretty awesome when you have guys coming for tips. I feel like I’m a guy that guys can come to — especially Connor with the skillset that he has and what he can be as a player — I just want to show them the ropes a little bit and how to play in this league and how to become a better players. James will do that too, but little things that I thought I used last year that I felt helped me a lot, I pass on to him.”

Specifically, the 5-foot-11, 180-pound Krebs always tries to start practice off hard.

Little things in practice — make sure three hard strides always, as hard as you can. That will translate well as it gets you in the habit that will allow you to be successful and be a pro in the future.

If the ICE are to rebound and find their way into the playoffs, Krebs will be a major reason why. Determination is a word that nearly every scout uses in describing his play. That determination drove him to the WHL. There seems to be no reason why it can’t take him to the NHL as well.

Yep, he’s a determined player who isn’t big but definitely isn’t small. His team is terrible and he’s miles ahead of the next leading scorer on his team with 43 pts in 30 games, while the next closest has 30 in 39 games. If he was on a good team he would be over 50 easily. Can play C and LW which are positions of need for the Nucks. I’d be very happy with this pick.

Given Jimbo and Brackett love their American picks though I’d suspect guys like Zegras, York, Turcotte or Boldy might be the target. Brackett knows what he’s doing so I have faith he’ll get the right guy.

Yeah Krebs is the type that can step right away after the draft and produce, especially if his skating is NHL caliber.

I don't know much about Krebs but isn't that what they kinda said about Zadina?

Not sure how he's doing on Detroit's farm but watching him at this tournament, he looks completely lost.

I was never a really big Zadina fan, he had his moments but Krebs is an energy player. If he was playing on a better team he’d have a lot more points. He’s about to pass Dach in the standings

You can never downplay skating and tenacity and skill which he has plus he’s always impressed in international tournaments. He can also play left wing

I don’t think he will fall to where we’ll be picking. He will be drafted between 6th and 12th somewhere there, we’ll be drafting around 24th overall

RoyalDude wrote: Wed Dec 27, 2017 9:56 am If Brady Tkachuk is a top 10 pick then this is a shitty draft class. Quinton Hughes is ranked around 5th, that guy is so tiny he makes Victor Mete look like Andre the Giant. Dahlin looks real slick and poised with the puck, looks like the real deal. Was impressed with Zadina in the Czech Russkie game. All in all the 2018 class ain't looking so good.

Yeah he just throws a pile of shit against the wall and hopes some of it sticks. At one time or another he’s liked or hated every single player drafted in the last twenty years.

“ Tavares is washed up”.

“he had his moments”

I repeat

“he had his moments”

Hey at one point before the 2018 draft some scouts had Jack Wise as a potential 1st overall pick, him and Veleno, professional scouts.

As we approached the 2018 draft I was becoming lesser of a fan of Zadina. Is that unusual? Blob is gay
