I recall the talk of retirement for Bettman but no timeline was made official. I can't recall what is left on his current contract but the CBA is up in 2030 IIRC and there's no chance he wants to be around for those discussions.

I would guess he does want to be around for the next expansion event to be remembered for filling the owners coffers with additonal cash.

Even moreso if it is a double whammy as rumoured.

My next guess is AIG (allegedly) has already voted yes on expansion based on the (alleged) local cost cutting that is (allegedly) not yet over.....

And to think we have to use protection spots for players with a NMC. All the more reason to get rid of them sooner rather than later.

Joseph not as impressive in this tourney, and may be sliding a bit in the standings due to foot speed.

Those were the first highlights I’d watched of DuPont.

If we are fortunate enough to draft him he’s gonna make people say, “Quinn Who?”

His 3rd helper was the best. That read to pinch at the line and jump around and in front of the USA player to steal the puck was crazy hockey IQ.

His skating, passing, and vision, are otherworldly, and the best thing I like about him is that after he creates something with his feet and passes off, he then slides around and is ready to immediately receive a return pass in a shooting position. He makes himself a constant threat that keeps defenders guessing and must give goaltenders nightmares if they study him.

Speaking of Landon Dupont, his NIL deal at Michigan is said to be 1 million US, the largest ever for a hockey player in NCAA history.

Is there a limit on what colleges can pay these kids? Doesn’t seem right they could make more in school than on an NHL ELC.

NHL salaries are chump change compared to the professional versions of those leagues.

The interesting part is going to be when NIL is paying better than AHL money for guys that aren't guaranteed to be in a position to be earning NHL money....

The Flames have a pretty solid stable of young D men, so I won't be crushed if they don't get Dupont. They really need a centre. Having said that, if they do end up getting 1OA, can you imagine the Flames D in the near future - Dupont, Nemec, Carels, Parekh, Bahl and Kuznetsov or Bru (thank you again Canucks for including him in the Lindholm deal ). That would be the best D in the entire league.
