I really didn't see Boeser resigning. Probably is under the AAV Canucks already offered, but more term. And I suspect that's what Boeser was hearing -- we like you, but not at 6-7 years.
No trade protection.
As for the center gap, as I said before, there would always be a gap in the Top 6, and if its at center, given the market for centers is a player's market, so be it. Raty and Sasson will get their shot.
Canucks could make some space, but they don't need to. Puckpedia is showing them with 22 and under the cap by 556K. And that has Sushi on the roster -- it might be for the "starting" roster (b/c of how it affects bonuses), but it will more likely be Karlsson who is actually on the team (that's another 168K in cap space).
Still, I think Cherry Picker's prediction that Hoglander or Joshua will be packaged with Silovs (or another trade) is likely (I don't see O'Connor getting traded). Its better to have a little more room (to manage clustered non LTIR injuries) or have 23. I also think the Canucks could really use another 7D if they project Forbert as presumptively in the lineup. Having a tweener right side D riding pine most nights is better than frequent scratches for waiver exempt DEP or Mancini or Willander (whoever doesn't make the starting lineup). The losers of the 3d pairing RD contest should be getting games in Abby -- they will get their NHL exposure when one of the starters is injured. There should be a few 7-8D right shot orphans who can fill this role, even after the dust settles

My only problem with Juulsen was that every time he played for the Canucks, they lost.
That’s a problem.

According to Puckpedia, none of Garland, Boeser or Demko got trade protection. I have to believe that's not accurate and will be updated once all the contract details are known.

Sammy Blais gets an NHL contract. To Montreal.
Former Canuck Ethan Bear to the Islanders for league minimum.
Brandon Tanev, 3 yr/2.5M AAV to Utah, which seems like a good fit from them. That team looks pretty good.....

Oh, and the guy that came over with Bear from Carolina, Lane Pederson -- who played a few games for the Canucks before getting taken off waivers by Columbus, has signed in Philly. Phantom fodder I suspect.

The one thing that stands out for me with these two extensions - Garland, Demko and Beoeser re-upping, is, if Pettersson was the problem in the room, then it certainly wasn’t enough to steer the three Americans in another direction.
Mëds, your thoughts?

Demko and Garland don't have it until 2026-27, when the contract kicks in. So if you were looking at next year and didn't see it, that's why. Demko's is a NMC the whole term. Garlands is 3 years with a NMC, then a 15 team NTC.
Boeser is not showing any limitations. Its possible there's a delay, but Puckpedia has been really quick and it makes me think that like Cap Friendly (or was it Cap Geek), they've got all the contacts the "insiders" have. I've been really impressed.

Miller will likely move every 2-3 years for the rest of his career. He's hard on the equipment

Thank you for that. I was just seeing next season.

Bear in mind that a couple years ago, two of the three (Boeser and Garland) once expressed an interest to go. We all imagined it was hockey related -- Boeser needing a new start, Garland wanting ice time -- but maybe they were displeased with more, and the source of that displeasure no longer exists. Of course, their reasons could be different than one another.
All that said, there's not really a discount in these deals.

Dhaliwal going off like the Canucks got raped by Boeser. He out waited them, out smarted them. They capitulated and have to eat crow. Said they collapsed at the last moment and gave him 7 years because he was going to get that from a number of teams and more cap. The guy can just not be happy with the Canucks.
Who knows the real story. We all know the public dis. We all know Brock was hurt. We all know he wanted to stay. The Canucks were not as sold on him as he was on them. But at the end of the day there were no other viable options to use that money. Did the Canucks give in. Yes, they never wanted to go past 5 years but they sucked it up. Maybe they were too confident his desire to stay would rule and he would take 5-6 years. But whatever. Why paint this as a total Canucks capitulation and ass beating. Jerk.

Well to add to that, allegedly the Cancuks could not trade them without retention. Could not give them away. So who knows what the truth really son these things.

There is that. Boeser coulda walked, but didn't. If Demko and Garland (or anyone else, I would think) wanted off Total Drama Island Canucks edition they would likely have been moved already.
In terms of strategic messaging, what one can divine from these moves is encouraging.
Maybe moving Miller was the necessary move?

Former Canuck Nate Schmidt signs with Utah. So does Scott Perunivich, but he'll need to fight for a roster spot.
