Patera has not been as sharp as Tolopilo was last night.

Calgary wins this one in the shootout in a game where they were severely outplayed by the Canucks. Devin Cooley was heroic in goal for the Wranglers as Jiri Patera shit the bed in goal for Abbotsford. Shootout was two and done as Patera couldn't stop anything and looked ridiculous in the process. No idea why Tolopilo didn't play tonight after a stellar effort Friday.

Next up a Fri-Sat set in Colorado. The home debut is set for October 25, a Friday. Hope to see Wolanin in for Brannstrom and Tolopilo for Patera Friday in Colorado.

The Canucks did break down a little bit in the third period on Friday, but they dominated play in the loss yesterday. Tolopilo was really sharp in the net in the Friday win while I thought Patera was awful in the loss, a game in which the Canucks pretty much dominated from start to finish. I'm not anxious to see Jiri Patera between the pipes for Abby anytime soon based on yesterday's outing, though he does have the track record of an effective goalie at the AHL level. Tolopilo's poor save percentage in the Friday win was just one of those things imo. I don't think he could be faulted on any of the three goals that got past him.

On paper you would think this pair ought to be a solid AHL tandem. But they've got to do it on the ice starting Friday in Colorado.
