Optimism and rosy goggles be hanged. He's had zero (see: zilch, nada, none) 100 point pace seasons before the slump.
He then broke out and produced for 130 games.....then started the slide towards what we saw here for an entire season.

Re: Canucks News N Notes 24-25
That was painful to watch. The presser by Jim and Pat.
Swing back to what Allvin said at the conclusion of the TDD. He mentioned that they were circling in on a couple of centres but ran out of time to make a deal that made sense. At that time he said it did not preclude a trade before the playoffs if the pieces fit, even though that meant any player(s) they acquired would not be eligible for the playoffs.
Then today Jim was emphatic that to acquire a centre it would have to be via trade as the list of FA did not fit what they were looking for. He also sounded somewhat confident that there was a trade there and it would be expensive. Then add in the tampering bullshit. Add in him shutting himself down saying he did not want to give away his strategy.
I think they have something in the works or at least a dramatic plan they want to try to execute. Add in the over pumping of Petey. And Allvin saying he was keeping all options open. I think Petey is very much on the trade block. And I think they are very aware that their main job next year is to convince Quinn to extend next July.
I would love it if they took a run at the Hughes brothers. I'd love it even more if they made a successful run at them. But then NJD may be thinking along the same lines. What do we have to do to lure Quinn here in 2 years?
Jim to me is too honest and full of his own shit. Allvin is the cagey one that gives non answers. They both are guy of tearing players down in a stupid way to try to intimidate and get better leverage.
Re Willander, him opting to return for his third year at BU is not a surprise. I have said it many times, I read somewhere a few months back that he had been considering that. I don't know his reasoning, we can all speculate and say it is some type of negotiating tool but what if he just genuinely wants to return for his 3rd year? It was easy to sense the frustration on Allvin's part and the bullying came out talking about throwing money away and trying to diss Willander. Why not just say he has made a personal decision and we respect that and will continue to work with him? Maybe it is English as as second language thing. Too direct and not enough nuance.
I am prepared for massive turnover and a massive trade that will be costly.
One good thing I guess, is Jim saying they wanted to extend Demko. Although he could not shut up and said it depends upon how much of a risk the team wants to take on, or how much risk Demko wants to take on re term.
Bracing for a hard off season.

Not to you cats as people, but to these statements and all corresponding sentiments I am just going to say two words: Fuck Off.Cousin Strawberry wrote: The meat of the issue isn't training and strength it's between his ears. You have to get into that giant bobble headed cranium and find the worm.
Pettersson is going to be 27 this year. He should have had this moment when he signed up for a 3 year bridge deal that promised him more money by 25 years of age than most fans of this team will make in their entire careers.
The entire attitude surrounding him, and the bleed off into the locker room, and the coach's sentiments regarding the guy they parted with.....now the comments from the ass-hats, who made him nearly trade and buyout proof, regarding the guy that they elected to deal.....it's bullshit. None of the business owners, managers, supervisors, who have deigned to contribute to this hockey talk message board, would ever have kept an employee like this around.
You trade this pathetic entitled headcase millennial for the best return that is offered.

Re: Canucks News N Notes 24-25
Yeah, my take on their presser was very similar to Toppers.
Was not hoping for a lot going in but left uninspired and not overly confident in their direction nor leadership.
So Tocchet can work with that.
Or go work with Jones and Briere in Philly and turn Michkov into an all world player.
Apparently Matvei's exit interview, fitness and growth goals blew Flyers staff away.
Maybe EP should go workout with him.

The extraordinary patience and lack of affronted gall that this fan base has for this player is pretty amazing to me.

Re: Canucks News N Notes 24-25
The more I hear, the more I read, the more I wish we had traded Petey last TDD. I truly wish him well but he is high maintenance and he should not need to be. He has a ton of talent and can be an exciting player to watch, even a difference maker. But it sure sounds like he does not know how to put in the work to become an elite player and stay at that level.
I would love to know what the incident was last fall that sparked this fiasco. But I think we traded the wrong guy. Like Donny I would like to be proven wrong.

Petey coming to camp in half assed shape (again), the straw that broke the camels (JT's) back.....Topper referred to this in his flyby today.Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Mon Apr 21, 2025 9:02 pm I would love to know what the incident was last fall that sparked this fiasco.
Pure conjecture but a possibility....

The 89 point included what...3 months of this same nonsense play he's shown this year so taking that into account that's a 100 point pace.Mëds wrote: ↑Mon Apr 21, 2025 8:23 pmI'll use the stats here just Cuz (see wot....) I missed that bit of arguable tampering. Idiot.Topper wrote: ↑Mon Apr 21, 2025 4:48 pm
Quinn, maybe we need to get his brothers here ... oops I may have said too much and need to avoid tampering ... I can see the league coming in on this as they did when Benning spoke too soon.
….
Overall, they seem a bit lost and overwhelmed. Not a confidence inspiring media session.
Overwhelmed is a good word. Exhausted, too.
They pressered like EP40 played.
