Hold the line, Jim. Three-fifty is my limit. That's as high as I go.

Hand $3M per without blinking to a Pig Lander for turd line production. Throwing down with Wee Lander's agent over $100K for a young RHD with massive potential... one of the most coveted positions for all teams.

Is this rumour for realz, yo?

You want 500 K? Well, you're going to have to wrestle me for it in that gravel parking lot over there.

Shades of RJ Umburger. This is vintage Canucks.
This is Brown Cherry carrying water for another player agent.

Comments on EP, Miller and Hughes are excellent listening.

Well worth the watch if y'all are a Canucks fan.
Thanks Leves. Just gave it a listen.....hard not to read between the lines on that one.

So Petey shows up to camp not in shape. Blames it on mysterious knee problem that he never told the Canucks about. Tocchet mentioned today that he has to not only improve his conditioning and off season training but also his practice habits. He is in the first year of his 11.6M deal. Fast forward to JT who takes the piss out of him. But this was not a new feud. It predates at least 2 seasons, may 3. But it progressively got worse and the Canucks tried everything they could think of to try to get the two to bury the hatchet. Nothing worked and it escalated to the point where it had become a major distraction to the team.

JT gets traded as he needed a fresh start and of course the Canucks took the best deal they could get for either. They may have gotten a better deal from Carolina for Petey but Carolina went in a different direction.

End of season presser and Tocchet basically spells this out but you do have to read between the lines.

Hughes and asked if there was anything he could do to help Petey prepare in the offseason. Hughes responds, everyone has their own thing and way to train, paused, and said no, there is nothing for me to do. Didn't sound like a friendly answer. Or an inviting one.

Hughes also said it is up to every player to get themselves to camp in the best shape they can and be prepared from day one of camp. Everyone, including himself just had to do better and get better.

My take, Petey has never really had to put in a ton of work at any level he has played at except the NHL and he has not been prepared. It also sounds like he doesn't put in 100% in practice. He has been getting by on his Gawd given talent but is up against it now.

Too bad a deal with Carolina was scuttled and we didn't keep JT. We still could have gotten Mpete as we had our 1st and would have gotten a 1st from Carolina. Now we would not have Mancini but we would have a wide open roster spot for Willander.

I love the potential and promise of Petey but more and more I wish they went in a different direct and had traded him last TDD to Carolina. This team has too much of a soft spot for Swedes. For some that is worth it but this blanket take a swede over all else is risking losing this team. Allvin has colour blindness.

What did the players entering the final year of their contract say when asked if they wanted to come back and would begin negotiations July 1st:

Thacher Demko: Yes, I want to be a Canuck. I have always wanted to be a Canuck from the day I was drafted. I definitely want to talk extension as soon as I am able to. Hasn't been approached yet

Conner Garland: I don't negotiate contracts or talk about extensions. I leave that to my agent. He will get to it at the right time. Its not my job to talk about contracts. Yes I'd like to come back but leave that to my agent to advise me. Hasn't been approached yet

Pius Suter: Haven't thought about it. Don't know if I will extend or try FA. It depends upon the situation so I will leave that to my agent. Don't know if he will be back but likes the city and team. Hasn't been approached yet

Sherwood: Was not asked that question.

What about our FA Brock: No real news. It is disappointing but I leave it to my agent. I definitely want to be a Canuck but it may not be my decision in the end. We will see where talks go. No new talks really since the day before TDD.

Forbert: Wasn't there so he didn't speak.

On Tocchet: He has a checklist of things he has to go through in order for him to process his thoughts and feelings on the matter. He does not expect it will be a long process, maybe a few days to a week. Will not go to the world Championships as he need a break. Was non committal about whether he wanted to come back until he has time to process. However, he said that doesn't mean he does not want to come back. A lot will depend upon his conversations with Pat and Jim. He knows the types of player he wants and he has his thoughts on who should be targeted in trades or FA so he wants to have that conversation first. He has not held talks to date as he intentionally does not talk contracts during the season.

Nice summaries Wids.

Jettison Miller.

Jettison Tocchet (tbd).

Maybe a Swedish coach would be best for EP and lads.

Schedule A "Bonusgate" is extremely odd considering Willander is a Swede and all.

Concerning but not surprising comments about F Petey. Hopefully he channels his ego the right way and shows up ready to go next season.

While I think Tocchet is a good coach I am not sure if he is the right one for this team. If Hughes is a fan of his, I would seriously consider keeping him and trying to trade Petey before his NMC kicks in.

Need to bury the hatchet and clean the slate. Move on from Elias Pettersson, he’s a room killer. I don’t see his attitude changing.

A 2017 redraft

1. Makar
2. Heiskenen
3. Suzuki
4. Necas
5. Hischier
6. Robertson
7. Oettinger
8. Vilardi
9. Thomas
10. Pettersson

lol, I get the sense ole Aqua Bros ain’t too happy with Rutherford and Allvin right now and rightly so. The missed playoffs, the Petey contract, the decimation of our centre position, the handling of the Miller/Petey/Horvat debauchery. Unfortunately for Willander, management is playing hardball with him to please the, currently, angry boss. They’ve been read the riot act.

Yeah, that wouldn't surprise me one bit. It is a hot mess in there right now.
