Yeah, that's right. We can wrap it up Friday in Austin with a win. If not, the final two games, if necessary, are back in Abbotsford Sunday and Monday.

Charlotte swept Laval in the Eastern series.

The Baby Canucks remind me of those Vancouver Canucks teams filled with players who would eventually form the nucleous of the Presidents Trophy winning teams....

They just keep comming in waves and never sit back...

Curious to know which players you think will graduate over the next year or so and become full time NHL'rs?

Take care...

It's sure been a helluva ride so far :)

Here's what I think will happen to some of the current crew:

Full-time graduates to the NHL roster - Mancini, Silovs, Karlsson, Raty.

Young prospects with upside who will get some games with the big team - Kudryavtsev, Mueller, Lekkerimaki.

Other players who might get a look include Sasson, McWard, Bains, Aman, and Tolopilo.

Sammy Blais might still be able to push for a fourth-line wing spot if offered an NHL contract; he's had a good run down in Abby, and it continues.

And call me crazy, but I still think ol' Guillaume Brisebois can be a dependable plug-in-the-lineup 7/8 defenseman if given the chance. He is unquestionably the most reliable defender down in Abby right now.

Cheers @Rikster...

Appreciate the reply Megs...

Can't argue with your predicictions, I might be not as high on Bains and McWard and maybe more bullish on Sassons...

Reminds me of when my son and I use to go on our golf trips wherever the Canucks training camps were held and at the end of the camp we would each make a list of the 5 prospects we thought would eventually make the NHL...

He was always better at it than I was but it was fun to pick your race horses and then follow their careers...

5 picks doesn't look like its going to be enough with this prospect pool...

Take care...

Really like Mancini if he can be consistent. There is 4-5 potential there.

Karlsson deserves a year with Vancouver. Not sure he’s more than a tweener, but he doesn’t have anything else to prove in the AHL. Give him a shot.

KK and Mueller are good stories. Thought nothing of them a year ago, but they are a couple of the Canucks bending their curve a bit. Nice to see that; Canucks haven’t had that for awhile.

But Sushi has the hands and shot the big club needs; doesn’t seem to be elevating his game as it gets tougher. A bit concerned about that one….

Megs, does Klimovich have any nhl potential?

UW, Mancini is a completely different animal at this level, he can dominate out there. Rink length rushes and highlight reel plays are a semi-regular occurrence. Interestingly, Malhotra doesn't use him on the power play at all; he's strictly in a shutdown role.

Karlsson has been magnificent all year, and he's among the league leaders in playoff scoring. It was nice to see his wall/net front/agitator game finally start to translate at the NHL level. The kid has worked hard to get there.

KK is improving at a rapid pace. Even in these playoffs, he has gone from a sometimes scratch to a first-unit power-play fixture and reliable even-strength minute muncher. Mueller is arguably the unsung hero this year. With Raty and Aman out, he is now a top two-line center and arguably the team's best two-way center and penalty-killing forward.

Sushi had a strong season but has struggled in the playoffs, as you mentioned. I think at least some of this may be related to a facial injury he suffered earlier on that may have resulted in some weight loss on an already critically skinny 172-pound frame. He hasn't looked like the same player at all in these playoffs, although the effort and attention to detail are always there with this kid; he doesn't hurt you.

Klimovich, lol. He notched the OT winner last game on one of his 'patented' (lolol) solo efforts and thereby put himself back in people's good graces, but I'm afraid the book is closed on him by now. He just doesn't think well enough to play pro hockey at this level. When carries the puck into the offensive zone on a line rush, he never, ever passes it. He tries to skate through the entire defending team and score a spectacular goal like he did Wednesday night. It works three times a year but the rest of the time you're pulling out your hair. Zero awareness, very, very low IQ. Selfish, emotional, prone to taking infuriatingly dumb penalties. Doesn't like to come off the ice. This elementary stuff just cannot be coached out of him. At the same time, he has made some limited strides under Manny this year, and just maybe, he can get it to where he can continue playing pro hockey after his contract is up next season. I would say he's a poor man's Belarussian Jake Virtanen, but he's such a nice kid off the ice that I don't want to hang that label on him

Still 1-0 Texas late in the second.

Bains and McWard have tailed off lately. McWard has kind of lost his roster spot to Akiro Hirose, so you may have something there. Sasson hasn't been very good in this playoff run, no offense to speak of. He doesn't look healthy to me. Same goes for Bains.

Melee at the end of the period. 6'4" 215 Petrovic drops his gloves and starts punching 5'11" 185 rookie Ty Mueller, who has no choice but to defend himself. Random wrestling matches ensue. The Canucks are not happy.

1-0 at the break.
