I imagine he'll waive for anywhere at this point.

Someone said his agent worked out this trade (unconfirmed).
Just spitballin' here

wonder if it is Carolina?

Mikheyev + 2nd to Carolina for Jake Guentzel's rights?

This would allow the Canucks to offer Jake an extra year in a contract to bring down the cap hit.
Unlikely. I think the owner there is allergic to bad value contracts.

@frank_seravalli

Here’s the full details:

To #Blackhawks: Ilya Mikheyev, 2027 2nd Rd Pick, pending UFA Sam Lafferty

To #Canucks: 2027 4th Rd Pick

#Canucks are retaining 15% on Mikheyev.
So we retain around $700K, oh well, still a reasonable deal.

A year or so after they sign them

Dhaliwal is hearing the Canucks are looking at bringing back a veteran backup goalie next year, possibly DeSmith.

Silovs back to Abby.

Dhaliwal is very good at saying a lot without really saying much. Intriguing without substance, he’s a very good spit baller.

Doyle if you’re Rob Blake, are you still trading Faber for Fiala?

Far more space is created offensively by those attributes than a power forward with limited attributes. Get that partner and maybe the third has physicality as a main attribute.

The reason Garland wasn't tried with Pettersson (much) this season is he was leading his own line, and Tochett preferred to stretch the depth (understandable enough), and Garland played well enough for that to work with inferior centers (Blueger, but assist to Joshua) and better centers (Lindholm). The good part about Garland with Pettersson is he can be both the skilled player on the line and the digger, and do a far better job at either than Hoglander, which means the options for the third member of the line are pretty wide open.
Wouldn't mind trying EP40 with Garly & DJ81 for a stretch next season. Garly has the playmaking skill and DJ brings the size and muscle.

After watching the past couple games I think the primary reason I have for wanting to trade Pettersson is because of how much we are going to have to pay Hughes in a few years. The team is night and day different when he is on the ice.

I read a comment (and yes it was highly likely to be fan biased) last night after the game that was putting Hughes in the conversation of best player in the league, and also a reference to a pre-season prediction by one of the pundits that nodded to Hughes for the Hart this year.

Right now if Pettersson is retained at $11.6M there is no way that Hughes is getting paid less than $14M in three years time. Even with the increasing salary cap I think it's ridiculous to carry both of those contracts unless Pettersson is driving play up front and carrying a line at a 110 point pace.
