All I see in that video is a car turning into pedestrians / protestors. Why did the driver do that?
Since cars seem to be a weapon of choice for right-wing nutjobs, it's entirely reasonable for those people to assume the driver meant to do them harm.

As for Garrett, yeah - dumb choices were made, can't deny that. We have conflicting reports of whether he raised his weapon or not.

People fucked up, that's the only certainty. I just prefer to wait and see what comes out with time, rather than jumping on the band wagon to condemn the guy on the other side of my political beliefs.

Obviously the protesters knew the driver wasn't out to run them down, FFS he was driving at like one MPH!

Then he came to a full stop!

And btw, why have we seen a few drivers drive into protesters?

BECAUSE... we've seen protesters drag drivers out of their vehicles and beat the living fuck out of them

... AND shoot into stopped vehicles.

Who the fuck started all this anyway? Hint: it wasn't non-protesters.

I would say the driver didn't expect to see a mob and freaked out when he did (isn't that a fair guess?).

He couldn't drive straight through the intersection because the mob was crossing.

So he (slowly) turned right, hoping to crawl his way the fuck outta there.

Then the mob all race toward his car screaming obscenities and begin smacking it.

He sees one of them is carrying an AK47, so he grabs his handgun from the glove box.

Now I'm guessing stupid ole Foster... you can see him right up against the car, looking in

... sees the handgun and raises his weapon.

Motorist sees him raise his weapon, so he raises his and fires.

A couple of (fair?) guesses, but it had to be something like that.

But this much we know:

If the protesters didn't attack the motorist... and one of them wasn't up against his window with an AK... nothing happens.

All it takes is one witness (protester) to confirm he raised his weapon right?

And it seems like we have a few.

Of course most of them saw it pointed at the ground at one point

... because in the still shot it clearly was pointed down a few seconds before the shooting.

This is a CLEAR case of self-defense.

While I get that in many cases movements like BLM are well intentioned at their inception, they generally spiral out of control when they move into public demonstration mode, and I would go so far as to risk saying that the "out of control" does not involve the initiators of the original movement but rather people who, as Micahel Caine said so beautifully, "just want to watch the world burn" for one reason or another.
