On twitter, someone has tweeted that Satiar Shah said on 650 that Canucks are close to re-signing Taffoli. No info is given as to the contract and this is not on his official twitter page either. So, take this for all that it's worth. Apparently Shah said that the deal should be done by the end of this week.

Boston needs offence. They have a lot of depth on D. He’s a second pairing guy there behind Charlie on the right side. I think Gaudette and Virtanen are both capable of scoring 20. That said, if they put Carlo on the market they would probably garner better offers. I wouldn’t trade Boeser for Carlo, that’s for sure. That’s a hefty overpay.

I could definitely see a hockey trade. Vancouver has depth up front and they are young guys that should be fairly cheap and we need a D man in the worst way.

Virtanen is probably going to sign for 2.5 -2.8 so I’m not sure he’d qualify as cheap labour to get out of a shitty contract. Gaudette absolutely though as I can see his deal in that 1.5 million range.m

My ideas were more random thoughts but Boston, Carolina, NYI and NYR all make a bit of sense as trade partners.

As much as I agree we need a defenceman upgrade, we need to clear out contracts more. Next year (barring a Cinderella run) is not “year 1“ of contention status. We can’t be considered a contender with 25% of our cap space not spent wisely (for those not doing the math, add Erikkssoon, Sutter, Beagle, Luongo, and Baertschi together and tell me if we have to add Ferlund, Roussel and the Spooner buyout to get there without a debate)

We clean that shit up (which happens all by itself in the next 24 months), THEN we can seriously compete. We can probably compete next year If we get 1/2 the shit off the books (Erickson, Baertschi and one of beagle or Sutter).

IMO, cap is the 1st priority. If we have that, we don’t have to sacrifice depth to get better.
