This would allow the Canucks to offer Jake an extra year in a contract to bring down the cap hit.

You must have a player on your roster by the trade deadline in order to offer that 8th year.

So yeah, would have to be a sign-n-trade deal.

will have to see what the cap we save here goes to, but I'm not excited about throwing around yet another 2nd to fix a problem. Doc was right that the cost has changed, at least it's not a 1st, but a 2nd still has a lot of value, especially for a team who will want to be upgrading at the deadline for a playoff run.
If we end up signing all the players we are hoping to, I'm sure I'll move on from this thought, but let's see.

I'm always curious when you hear "the agent helped make the trade". Other than maybe encouraging him to waive the ntc, what role does the agent play in it? You're telling me the Canucks office didn't know chicago would take a 2nd for him? the management is paid how much money and they havn't already phoned every fucking team?
