Let me look on my Signal app. I’m in a ‘group chat’ with some officials whom have access to some very sensitive information.
Quick! Somebody install the app on Frankie’s phone!

Write up about Demko's next contract.

https://www.msn.com/en-ca/health/other/ ... dc1e&ei=24

No way is he worth $7M - $8M with his injury history, Canucks cannot afford that and must move on from him IMO. I have never been big on giving goalies big contracts but that is just me.

He's almost certainly worth that number and will definitely be getting paid that AAV at least

You are stuck on the bubble Demko, with his injury history no way is he worth that. It will be dead cap again. Use the money for forwards.

Well we don't even know if he wants to re-sign in Canada. There were grumblings earlier in the season that he would like an opportunity to play in the US. He has not asked for a trade but neither has he committed to Vancouver past this contract.

I love what a healthy Demko brings to this team. But I think if he finishes the season strong, and healthy, you look to trade him, even if that means allowing the acquiring team to speak to his agent about an extension.

When healthy he is more than deserving of 8+ on a new deal. The sticking point is term for sure. 8-9 x 4 sure.

If Demko will sign, you sign him. He’s the best chance to win a cup.
No other team in the league would think about not resigning a top five goalie.

Of course health is a factor but I absolutely agree. Hate how this market has taken his importance for granted just because he got hurt and Lank came out of nowhere and surprised everybody. There are a lot of Lankinens. There are only a few Demkos. Do everything you can to hold on to this guy. Yes, his health is a gamble, but to me it's a far greater gamble to lose him for a measly return over keeping him with injury issues. Unless he wants out, moving him is a non-starter for me.

And btw, here's what pisses me off to no end. That whole "Bumble Demko" revelation... We don't know at all if that performance was just a flash in the pan thing that we'll never see again or if we've got one of those truly special players on our hands who regularly elevate their game in playoffs to God-like levels. I've been dying to find out. Since then, he's played a grand total of... 1 FUCKING PLAYOFF GAME! Yeah, again injuries, I get it...but mostly crap ownership/management are the ones to blame. It's criminal to have him and the core talent this long and not be in it every year.

I've said many times I don't give a shit about the playoffs this year because we just don't have the horses upfront to do anything significant. But my god I'd like to see Demko play more than 1 playoff game. He and the fact that Hughes doesn't deserve to miss the playoffs are the only reasons I would like to see them get in. Otherwise, missing would make me equally happy just to know this shitty-ass owner doesn't make an extra dime.

Ive seen enough to know Demko is a special player, an all star goaltender, Vezina caliber. I don't question any of that. I would be all for a 4-5 year extension at 8-9 M per year. But I do worry about his durability. We have been blessed with first Luongo, then Markstrom and now Demko. In between we have had solid support from Miller, Schneider types. Goaltending has not been our Achilles heel for at least 15 years. But I would still consider a trade, if he is healthy and if he finishes this season strong and if the offer was worthy the player.

Same with Pettersson. I think he is a special player but if the offer was worthy of his talent and it brought us back a true top six centre, I would be tempted. Im not worried about the playoffs this year either. I am more concerned about building a team that can truly compete next season nd the one after. I am more worried about being able to convince Hughes to finish his career here. If that is keeping both Pettersson and Demko, fine. But if it's trading them to get other pieces so be it.

If it reduces the cap hit, don’t mind them giving 8 years to Demko.
He might only play the first couple seasons (giving them their best chance to win a cup) and then go on a Carey Price style LTIR retirement for the rest of his contract, but the Canucks can use that LTIR cap space, so it won’t hurt the team. It’s up to management to insure the contract.

You csn't pay him a lot because you need another goalie to share the load.

I'll pass unlesss it's a bargain deal.

Megs is correct, a stellar 1A that requires a 1B

3 or 4 years x 7m ish is good for me. Play him 45 to 48 games a season and then 2/3 of playoffs. He's a Cali kid. Consummate teammate, as far as know he likes it here.

Wids; he can't commit here until July 1. He was probably upset about the behaviour of the two adul babies that ruined a good thing. He seems happy now. Who knows? How are the California teams shaping up for goaltending in 26/27?

Sure, I would do that if he were interested. Depends on where his head is at.

He is all that you say.

Agreed Blob. July is the date. Will the Canucks treat him the same way they treated Bo and Boeser? The same way they treated Markstrom and Tanev?

Anaheim seems content with their goalie of the future but I think SJS could use an upgrade. LA seems set too but they of all three of the teams may want to take a chance on a Cali boy as they are further along on their retooling than the other 2 teams.
