Guentzel is a proven commodity that won't cost assets to acquire.

If he wants to come here, you just do it, you pay him the market rate

... and worry about the latter years if/when it becomes a problem.

No guts no glory.

He's going to get 7 years (or 8 if a sign-n-trade).

With 9 million per season you can get:

Guentzel for 7 years
or
Zadorov and Joshua for 6 years
or
Tanev and Toffoli for 3 years

T&T would be the best choice by far.

Guentzel at $8M x 8 in a sign-n-trade deal.

Still gonna bring back Tanev after we dump Mikheyev.

Oh, we are talking about this potential trade here, sounds like it is more than a rumour now.

2nd rounder (probably next year, hopefully it is 2026 though) to get rid of Mikheyev, yeah I can live with that. He is taking up over 5% of the Canucks cap space.

Edit:

apparently the return will be a 4th round pick.

If this trade goes down the way it is rumoured and with no retention, does that mean both Myers and Zadorov are back?

Mikheyev cap hit 4.75 mil

3 mil goes to Myers, the other 1.75 mil cover Zadorov's raise?

Also means the Canucks would now have 19 guys signed and still over 16.5 mil in cap space to sign mistakes on July 1st.
