Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
If all you care about is stats and good health, than perfect. If you expect your top paid players to also lead a team to success, than your Leaf's are destined for (continued) failure.
Comparing Kessel with Rick Nash is a good example, I'll give you that. Nash is another over-payed star who couldn't lead a kindergarten line out of a fire drill.
You can't build a winning franchise without leadership, and the aforementioned severely lack said attributes.
leaves core = losers.

Tuna you are embarassing yourself. Brain Burke gave up two franchise cornerstones for one. The two guys he gave up are 5 and 6 years younger than One Ball Yellow Teeth. It's a bad trade and only a fucking idiot would defend it. Cuffing you around is almost as fun as beating on Betapus and the Pauser.

Makes one wonder how things would have gone for phat Phil if he had not been traded to the laughs...they got rid of Seguin because he wasn't Bruin material in the playoffs... I guess Tuna is gonna point to the stats but Kessell doesn't seem like a hard nosed mofo playoff stud muchBlob Mckenzie wrote:Tuna you are embarassing yourself. Aren't you jumping ahead a bit to call Hamilton a "Franchise Cornerstone"? Would you call Morgan Rielly that?Blob Mckenzie wrote:Tuna you are embarassing yourself. I remember when Jared Knight alone was going to be better than Phil Kessel.
Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Kessel has been terrific in the playoffs. 13 goals, 21 points in 22 games.ukcanuck wrote:Makes one wonder how things would have gone for phat Phil if he had not been traded to the laughs...they got rid of Seguin because he wasn't Bruin material in the playoffs... Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
When he has got to the playoffs... 22 playoff games in 14 years is the ugly side of that stat. A superstar would have more playoff appearances than that and/or the bruins might have kept him.BigTuna wrote:Kessel has been terrific in the playoffs. 13 goals, 21 points in 22 games.ukcanuck wrote:Makes one wonder how things would have gone for phat Phil if he had not been traded to the laughs...they got rid of Seguin because he wasn't Bruin material in the playoffs... Don't get me wrong bro ain't saying he ain't a player tho..
Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
He's played 8 years, not 14. And the Bruins were making the playoff with him every year.ukcanuck wrote:When he has got to the playoffs... 22 playoff games in 14 years is the ugly side of that stat. The NHL isn't the NBA. You need more than 1 star to win.

his career stats go back to 2001 that's a long stretch with out many playoff games in any league....
But you're a fan so I'm not gonna try to convince you to hard
As far the NBA goes, I have no clue...except that we aren't talking about winning a Stanley cup with only one superstar, I'm talking about making the playoffs more than. 3 times in a career..
That's Mike Gartner territory
Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
So we're counting his playoff stats from when he was 13? LOL. Seriously? This is a first.
Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Hey tuna I'm just quoting the Career stats on wiki, what can I say?
You're the guy trying to claim the guy is a superstar playoff performer.
You're nicely trying to point out a ppg average while neglecting context.
It's pretty telling that the guy since he was thirteen has played 22 playoff games
I should be asking you if you're serious...

That's the thing about stats tuna you can manipulate them anyway you like.BigTuna wrote:NHL stats, no. Peewee stats, well maybe...BladesofSteel wrote:Yes but UK, the stats don't lie.

Figures never lie, but liars sure figure...
Edit) careful now, I ain't calling you liar big T, just pointing out all the figuring it takes to stretch a paltry 22 games into superstardom over a life time of playing hockey at all levels. Peewee, bantam, college and pro...
Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Yup. Every year. All 2 of them.BigTuna wrote: He's played 8 years, not 14. And the Bruins were making the playoff with him every year.
And he was a 0.56 ppg average for the Bruins over those 3 seasons.....wait a second.....did I say 3 seasons? But Kessel only recorded playoff games played in 2 of those 3 seasons. Oh that's right, the Bruins failed to qualify for the playoffs in 2006-07. And Kessel played 70 games for them that year!!!!!
Yeah.....so Kessel was an integral cog in that there Boston Bruin machine. They traded him after they were ousted in the semi-finals in 2008-09. They got the same results in 2009-10. Then won the Stanley Cup in 2010-11.
I tell ya, that there Phil Kessel was the engine driving the Bruins playoff hopes, he was the one keeping them in the race.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..
