I have a list of things that don't seem to work. Some are directly related to trade. Some are just the entire relationship that affects trade.
Implement a digital tax, and then drop it.
Implement the same tax at 3 times the rate. Claim it was a government department that you don't control, and then reverse course and drop the new tax after finding out you do have the authority.
Put a whole pile or retributive tarrifs on items covered by CUSMCA, being the first side to violate CUSMA on this issue. Backtrack on these tarrifs.
Let the provinces ban alcohol (also covered by CUSMCA). Violates the spirit of CUSMCA.
Build a bridge, and then capitulate on revenue sharing, and not paying off the loan. And, lie about the agreement.
Don't send representatives to 2 important rounds of CUSMA negotiations.
Allowing 50,000 rising to 70,000 Chinese vehicles into Canada (about $$2-$3 billion per year), for a temporary drop on canola tarrifs (a $4billion export to china)
Actively ignore all signs of Chinese interference in Canada
Violate the "slave labour" laws in CUSMCA by not doing our due dilligence on Chinese imports.
Every time there is any progress, yell "Elbows Up", and reset the discussions. (Or let Ford run ads that you approve of)
Declare a "New World Order" and "we are on the menu" comments to the world.
Ignore any concerns over our Dairy supply management system/Dairy import restrictions.
Be totally flippant when asked about negotiations. Carry a calm demeanure of not giving a fuck if we ever get a deal.
Totally support your ally on Iran one day, and then say your ally violated international law the next day
All this before my 2nd cup of coffee.
