3 games left for Hronek to overtake Petey for the scoring 'race'.
There might be some reason why you don't want that in writing, but otherwise, yes! -- absolutely.Madcombinepilot wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2026 10:50 am SO chit chatting about the upcoming offseason, and had an idea..
Rutherford needs to hear this.
JR needs to go to the owners, and ask if he can purchase a couple more draft picks for the future, to speed the rebuild. Then, send a prewritten message to agents for July 1st. The message is "Vancouver is willing to overpay by 2-3 million for FA's for 1 year contracts with the intent to trade with retention to contender. Please include your 10 team NTC with contract proposal'. Sign a 6 million dollar guy for 8.5 (or whatever), with 7.5 (whatever the max is) of it being signing bonus. Receiving team gets a guy on a discounted cap space with pretty much zero cost (like actual dollars for receiving owner) attached.
I Mean, everyone pretty much knows what a player is worth in free agency, so just overpay, and make no bones about what your doing. Retain on the couple guys when we trade, and get more draft capital.
MCPilot will not need to put it in writing if we all just keep quoting the post in response.Ronning's Ghost wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2026 5:47 pmThere might be some reason why you don't want that in writing, but otherwise, yes! -- absolutely.Madcombinepilot wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2026 10:50 am SO chit chatting about the upcoming offseason, and had an idea..

Yeah, a 3 year contract for Captain Transition sounds about rightLancer wrote: ↑Tue Apr 14, 2026 5:35 am Bluegers is not an obvious choice for Captain, but he’s one of the better options out there. Has always played the right way, capable 3rd-/4th-liner. Not a big personality, but he has a ring and experience playing with winners like Crosby.
He also wants to stay - even after management was undoubtedly shopping him at the TDD. He’s kind of at the right age at 31 to be around for the rebuild but ready to retire when they have to name a captain from the new core.
I have said for years that in this market, the best player on the team CAN NOT be captain. Media fucks with their heads. If Blueger is on the list, and we resign him, he will do.Tciso wrote: ↑Tue Apr 14, 2026 7:26 amYeah, a 3 year contract for Captain Transition sounds about rightLancer wrote: ↑Tue Apr 14, 2026 5:35 am Bluegers is not an obvious choice for Captain, but he’s one of the better options out there. A couple of other points in his favour:Madcombinepilot wrote: ↑Tue Apr 14, 2026 10:03 amI have said for years that in this market, the best player on the team CAN NOT be captain. -He's been here a couple of years already, so he should have a good understanding of the personalities of the room, as opposed to bringing in someone from the outside.
-He understands where this room has been without being involved in the cortex of drama; he doesn't carry any baggage that way.
-I don't think he can kick the Dickless Swede into gear, but I don't think he'll make Petey more pouty - if that was possible.
I mean, outside of Hronek and MP3, what are the other internal options? Can't name one of the kids; wrong time and none have earned consideration IMO. Forget Boeser; DeBrusk seems like he's still disappointed he didn't move at the deadline; and I can only imagine the Dickless Swede getting the C if management wanted to get fired.
