Making America bankrupt again?

I don't understand why the Donald seems surprised that Harley Davidson are moving production to Europe.

A) His tariffs on steel and aluminium means that production in the USA becomes more expensive.

B) Since the EU response to the steel tariffs has been (among other things) a 25% tariff on motor cycles, this makes a Harley even more expensive in Europe, which is their second most important market.

Unless they do anything, their bikes will become between USD 2000 and 3000 more expensive in Europe, which almost certainly means lost market share. One option is to swallow the cost, and lower the price by USD 2000 to offset the tariff, but that will lower (if not eliminate) their profit margine. A smarter solution is to move production to Europa, as that means they escape both the higher cost for steel and aluminium and the tariffs for imports to the EU.

It's the sound business decision.

If Trump has even the most a basic understanding of business, as he claims to have, this ought to be self evident to him.
So why does he feign surprise?

In the 80's, the US imposed a tariff on motorcycles over 700cc on an effort to protect Harley Davidson.

Supposedly Trump also said that he would tax HD more if they did something like this. Again, like he has shown in the past, he has no idea that you cannot tax a single company differently than another company. Is there any wonder that he went bankrupt?

Stanley Park Teahouse manager fired after refusing to serve Trump supporter

The manager of a popular Vancouver teahouse has been fired after refusing service to a Trump supporter.

A man wearing a Make America Great Again hat was refused service at the Teahouse in Stanley Park by the restaurant manager, according to the restaurant's management company.

The Sequoia Company says it opted to fire the restaurant manager for not abiding by its "philosophy of tolerance."

"Sequoia does not support intolerance of any kind, and it is because of these principles that we cannot discriminate against someone based on their support for the current administration in the United States or any other bona fide political party," Sequoia said in an official statement.

"WHAT IN GOD'S NAME HAVE WE BECOME?"

When a man in power in a country where most people own guns proclaim the free press enemies of the people, he cannot feign surprise or innocence when journalists begin being gunned down.
