Ownership is going to love not having playoff revenue while still paying Scooter's $11.6M and having a rebuild of sorts yet again.
Oh well, look at it this way.
Scooter's 11.6 will have Thatcher's 5 mil around with him on the shelf to keep him company.
The same guy clapped his paws like a seal from beginning to end of the monstrosity contracts of Eriksson, Beagle, Roussel, Sutter, Del Zotto, Luca, Schaller. Called them the placeholders. Now he's been on pettersson since he signed. He is out to lunch in Greenweird.
Cap space and dollars matter.
Wiebo...... cap space ALWAYS matters
Yeah I missed all that Blob. That's why I don't always pick up on the internal politics and and old rivalries here. That era was a dead zone for the franchise I can certainly agree.
I'm not doing cartwheels about the present group either, mind you. I still think we're doomed to perma failure under this ownership, they asren't ever going to wise up and hire outsite help to set up the hockey department. It's have a beer with the alumni and go with your gut over and over.
I wish Tom and Ryan purchased the team.

Some folks couldn't handle a rebuild.

The 76 year old president ain’t here to do no stinkin’ rebuild.
I don’t know which is more exciting, today’s four nation final, or tomorrow’s Trader Jim Friday night yips.

Reports that the Canucks offered Lanky a new contract but it was rejected. Any word on the street what was actually offered?

Canucks sign O'Conner to 2 year extension.
It's nice to get all our new guys locked up. At first, the Millzy trade didn't look that great; I mean, we couldn't even get one of Lefreniere or B.Schneider. However, looking at it now, we basically got 4 guys for Millzy. M-Petey a much needed D-man. He's as solid as they come defensively and he'll be a great mentor to D-Petey and Willander. Chytil looks like he can be a pretty good top 6 player, just hope he can stay healthy. *knock on wood* O'Conner looks like he can be solid middle 6 player and might still have some upside. Finally add in Mancini, a big, young RS D in the system.
The big thing, all 4 guys are younger than Millzy. They should have lots of hockey in the tank and their best years are only coming. Not bad, not too bad at all going forward. Overall, it seems like mgmt took a bad situation and turned it into a positive for the current team and the future.

Heard on the new that Canucks extended Lankinen for 5 years but nothing on $$.
5 seems long depending on the amount.
Confirmed $4.5/year.

Yikes, that is a long term - and a lot of dough for a guy turning 30 in a month.
9.5 million in Goaltending contracts next year.

Either they make a successful pitch of a Swayman/Ullmark dynamic to Demko's camp, or they've essentially told Demko that they've found their cheaper, more durable, replacement for their starting netminder. I don't see much middle ground between those two outcomes moving forward.
I would hope for the former. It's become increasingly obvious that Demko needs significant load-management, if not a good insurance policy for when he goes down.

I think it's a bit rich and they only have Gimpy Demko for another year. He's clearly their guy. Im uncertain about this deal. That's Brandon Sutter money for fuck sakes.
There isn't a kid on the farm ready. The free agent market is crap.
He's going to start 50 games this year.
I think Thatcher is cooked and maybe there is credence to him wanting out. Boeser sounded like a snotty kid in his interview. Maybe there is/was a Alien and Miller clique., Trade spaghetti legs.Take a blowtorch to it. Get Paulo in there instead of Fredo. This thing can easily and quickly turned around.

True, I wonder if Demko signs for less on a "show-me" you can stay healthy deal once his is up and platoons with Lankinen. Only way I can see them keeping both.

I am cool with the 5 years but yikes that is a high AAV. That must really be worried about Demko.

My view of the goalie position is that the salary should not exceed 10% of the cap hit. Next year's cap is just over 95 million, so 9.5 mil for both Demko and Lanky just comes in at 10% of the cap.

Confirmed $4.5/year.
I see a NMC for the first 2 years, then a modified, 15 team NTC.
