What message would hat send the room? If they ship that pick for an improvement or replacement for Boeser, like they did with the Rags’ pick, that’s one thing. They keep the pick, that’s telling the room this season’s a flush, at least. Players come here to contend, not rebuild.

I am not saying do that trade, just saying they don’t appear to have much to offer the Canucks.

With Josh Norris the attraction to acquiring him is that he is (according to Quinn) one of Hughes' best friends. They were college roommates.

If the Canucks are wanting Hughes here long term, they have 2 years to prove to him that they can build a winner here, but also that they will make this as attractive a place for him to live as they can. Friends and family go a long ways.....

Same story for Brady Tkachuk, apparently close friends with Hughes.

I would see if Brady Tkachuk and Norris could both be had in a Package built around Petey and our 1st.

Why would he sign that deal??
What contract should he be signing?
As with any player the dollars are the key. If he's good with 10 million I'd have to think that's three years.

So, you suggest $3.33x3 is fair for Lanky? A little more than I want to spend on a backup though.

I wouldn't touch that if I were the Nucks - Norris has had 3 shoulder surgeries on the same shoulder, has played in parts of 7 seasons with the Sens and has played more than 60 games one time (66 in 21-22). He's played 56 once, 50 games twice including this year where he should hopefully get over 60 but he's currently injured. He had 55 points in 21-22, then he's had years of 35, 31 and 30 - that's total points, not just goals. He's also on a $7.95 million contract until 29-30. He's a good player when healthy but when you're that broken and on a long-term deal you'd better be getting him for next to nothing just to eat the contract. Unfortunately the Sens have been so badly mismanaged that Norris averaging 50 games a year is better than most other players they have.

Brady I'd be all over, but he's likely worth Petey + and I'm not sure I want to pay that much for a LW over a C.

I'm not worried about Hughes staying long term, as long as this team is winning of course. Need good players to do that hence the reason I like 25-27 year olds that have term left like Kyrou.

That shoulder is a mess but if the acquisition price reflects the risk it might be worth it.

Our current 2C (Chytil) is a major injury risk as well. Probably equal to or even greater than JN. His head rattles like a paint can

For sure - as I said as a cap dump I’d take Norris but not anywhere near full price. I doubt Ottawa wants to move him unless they decide to cut salary, hence why I’d prefer to go after a team like the Blues that want to make major changes and have some decent assets.

That would be a hell of a trade! But it seems early for cap space move. Odd.

I’m not driving, I don’t trust Doyle’s handlings of the product.
