Wifey and I went to Portland on the weekend and saw The Delines. Their new album - The Imperial is great!
The leader of the band and songwriter is Willy Vlautin’s. He folded his old band - Richmond Fontaine, a couple years ago. Willy has also written 5 novels, two of them made into movies - Lean On Pete and Motel Life
Hey Mick, I used to listen to that music......35 years ago.
Do you know that a lot of new music has been made since then by copious amounts of new bands?

I've just begun old boy.. I'm up to date to a week ago. Rock, metal, hard ass country rock, and blues if it's the right kind.
No pop
No hip hop
No rap
No opera
Every now and then music made for movies though.
Jade Bird was new and Ghost is current, not that song though.
However; something new isn't always better just because it's new.
At least that's what she said.

Heard that the singer of Talk Talk died. Wasn’t a fan of their earlier poppier music but their last 3 albums were decent.

I never realised that Avicii only ever released two albums. There are so many hits...
Either way. He was just putting the finishing touches to his third album when he committed suicide. And now his family is about to release it, with proceeds going to a trust that will among other things award efforts in suicide prevention.
Avicii is said to have said that this was his best work yet, so it will be interesting to hear what it sounds like. And it probably won't be his last album. He supposedly left more than 200 songs in various stages of completion behind on his computer.
I'm not really into EDM, but this guy had a special gift.

Tedeschi Trucks Band, the second set is nearly all Derek and the Dominoes Layla covers with Trey Anastasio and Doyle Bramhall II. Doyle playing lefty on an upside down strung guitar.

Whoa... that's some guitar skill right there.
Also check out Bramhall II on Roger Waters' In The Flesh concert DVD from Portland in 2000. It's a very good performance by the whole band and Bramhall II fills in admirably for Gilmour.
