the Sedin curse. They are old and done but we must continue to keep them happy. Interesting seeing how well Torts is doing with a rag tag crew of reclamation journeymen and young players after two years of tanking, or is just the dead cat bounce like we witnessed in Willies first season as the Canuck coach? That remains to be seen. But I do recall the Sedins irritated Torts greatly, "it's not 2011 anymore" the nutbar was right.micky107 wrote:Torts wanted a rebuild but the fans and local media were not ready.
Hell, the owners weren't ready and most assuredly, MG wasn't ready.
Kesler didn't want to go through it and I now believe the Sedins were just trying to prove him wrong.
What if, man, what if?
How happy could they be, as the veteran leaders of a team that sucks? Of course they must have massive self-belief, as star athletes, but they also seem like reflective intelligent humans in their interviews. They know what is what.RoyalDude wrote: the Sedin curse. Why would the other team deploy their best defenders against anyone but the Sedins?Kenji wrote:
I therefore surmise that they would understand and accept a reduction in their prominence, which would be demonstrated by having Bo Horvat lead the first unit power play and his ice time adjusted to maximize offensive situations. Seriously man! After all these years in the wilderness of no PP QB we need as many kicks at the can as possible to get that offensive D. He's only 23 yo and 2nd year in the league ... give this prospect some time to mature. Sure, he doesn't seem to have that competitive fire that Stecher has, but I think Stech needs to be that way because of his size so he can stand out from the crowd. Otherwise he's just another Yannick Weber.RoyalDude wrote:Im trading Hutton, long before I'm trading Tanev. I'm just not sold on Hutton, it's concerning to see his play digress this season. He is either resting on his laurels of last season "I'm too good to try now" or he just isn't as good as we had originally thought. Either way if there is a D-man I'm trading it's him, but his stock may be falling this season.
He was a Gillis pick, so he's trash. Dere's dat narrative again.5thhorseman wrote:Seriously man! I'm going to say something controversial that is just never, ever said by anyone, anywhere.
We have the Sedins for the rest of this year and all of next.
Split them up! At least 5 on 5.
Keith Ballard is an excellent player, AV is a shitty coach.Blob Mckenzie wrote:He was a Gillis pick, so he's trash. Dere's dat narrative again.5thhorseman wrote:Seriously man! It's never made more sense.
The team lacks leadership in a big way right now. Sedins are supposed to lead, but they can't produce offensively like the past and they can't back it up with big hits, shutdown play or the odd fight, when they don't produce or leave their own freaking zone their level of leadership or influence on the team fades... and right now Horvat is the guy you think can lead. Funny thing about H. is that I hear he is not a the type of guy that hangs with the boys at all... he trains hard and is extremely disciplined but not great at the social thing. He loses a few points for that. Still he could be our future C.Kenji wrote:How happy could they be, as the veteran leaders of a team that sucks? The game outcomes would likely be much the same. This is not a team that can attack in waves. But it would establish the new order.
I'm wondering why it hasn't happened already. This coaching staff is not above elevating youngsters where their play demands it. Look at Stecher and Tryamkin, green as grass but playing good minutes.
