Jake is dense, plain and simple. It also doesn't help with the fact that in the new NHL the one dimensional, straight line, power forward wingers with questionable skill set are a dodo bird thing of the past.

I know he's only 20, but It's not looking good. A lot of his draft class mates that were drafted after him are starting to show up in the NHL - Scherback, Perlini, hearing good things on the development of Tuch and Fleury. Nylander, Ehlers, Larkin, Fabbri, Pastrnak, Fiala, Ritchie already look comfortable in the NHL. What's his fucking excuse? Next thing you'll know is he starts blaming the organization which would be his biggest mistake.

Checking on Dustin Brown AHL's tenure at 20 years old, dude was on fire with the Monarchs.

Helped he was with over-developed Mike Cammalleri an AHL scoring champ at that point, but Brown was an absolute force to be reckoned with even in the AHL...So Virtanen if your fucking shoulder is hurt, rehab it, if not, Jake should be play another year in the AHL next season.

The American Hockey League announced today that Manchester Monarchs left wing Dustin Brown has been named the CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending November 7, 2004. Brown celebrated his 20th birthday in style, scoring five goals in two games for the Monarchs, who are off to an 8-1-0-0 start.

Brown, a first-round draft pick of the Los Angeles Kings in 2003, turned 20 on Thursday, then came out firing with both Manchester goals in a 4-2 loss to Worcester on Friday. He then netted his first professional hat trick on Saturday, helping the Monarchs to a 5-2 victory over Albany.

In recognition of his achievement, Brown will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Monarchs home game.

A native of Ithaca, N.Y., Brown spent the entire 2003-04 in the NHL with the Kings, recording one goal and four assists in 31 games. This year with the Monarchs, he has seven goals and six assists for 13 points in nine games, including four multiple-point efforts. The 13th overall pick in 2003, Brown is tied for seventh in the AHL scoring race, and is one of four Monarchs in the top 10.

Olli Juolevi learning not everything is roses and rainbows at a young age of 18...do you remember what you were doing at eighteen?? at 17 Juolevi had a monster career year in juniors.

Juolevi enjoyed one of the great seasons in hockey history in 2016. He led the world junior and Memorial Cup champs in blue-line scoring and was the first rearguard and Knight chosen — fifth overall by Vancouver — at the NHL draft.

“I didn’t care about any of those (in Montreal),” the 18-year-old said. “When I go to tournaments or play game, I always want to win and am disappointed when I lose. I had a great year last year. I won everything that was possible. It’s good sometimes to have setbacks so you know how to get through those things.

“It grows us as people.”

The Knights expect a recharged and resilient Juolevi for the second half of their season.

“There’s going to be tough parts in your career and you have to be ready for it,” he said. “I love winning and after last year, I know how good it actually feels. I want to do it again, especially with this awesome group of guys.”

He wants another crack at being Finnish captain at an international event some day. “You’re proud to be (the leader) and it’s a good thing,” he said. “I hope if I’m captain again, the tournament goes better.”

You guys do realize that it was the Gillis staff, and his right hand man - Gilman who were pushing for Virtanen. There is an interview out there where Gilman was creaming himself with the thoughts of drafting Virtanen cause he liked him so much. Also, Benning was a huge fan of Nylander. Benning was GM for barely 2 months before the Virtanen draft. Gillis scouting department was still in tack at the time of the Virtanen draft. Virtanen is as much as Glilis as he is Benning.

Again, if Nonis doesn't draft Schneider, no Horvat. Shinkaruk is Gills true first round pick of Horvats draft class
