We recently lost the last of 4 WWII flying aces (extended family).
The first 3 to cancer... all within the last 3 years.
This one, seemingly perfectly healthy, went peacefully in his sleep one night.
He always made a habit of keeping the memories of his fallen buddies alive.
Always.
It's like he made it his duty.
EDIT: The first 3 were brothers, this one later married into the family.
