Andrew Ladd is from Maple Ridge

Same difference. It’s like saying Morgan Reilly is from West Van not the North Shore.

When one drives from Coshitlam through to Maple Ditch in a matter of 15 minutes or so the county lines are clearly not defined.Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 9:42 amNot reallyChef Boi RD wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 9:30 amSame difference. I can drive from the edge of Coquitlam at the Poco imaginary line to the nearest edge of Maple Ditch in 20 minutesDoyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 10:43 am Coquitlam is huge. You telling me you can get from Vancouver Golf Club to 203 and Lougheed in 15 minutes?
There’s only Port Moody, Poco and Pitt Meadows in between
Edler starts next year as a 34 year old and Tanev turns 31 mid year and the four seasons previous to this one, Edler had missed 82 games or a full season while Tanev missed a total of 119 games or almost a season and a half. To expect one or both of them to be as healthy and play at the level as they did this year would be a mistake. They are declining assets. Like you say, between the blocked shots and PK time, they not only need to be replaced very soon but replaced by younger similarly styled players if possible and Barrie doesn't come close to that. Neither does Risto or Dumba for that matter but I prefer Dumba as I think he'd end up being the closest, he's only turning 26, and is almost a Miller type addition for the backend. They also have to move out cap so Barrie unrestricted still leaves a positional need unfilled, he needs babysitting defensively which they shouldn't count on a 34 year old Edler to do, and doesn't help move out dollars.Micky wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 12:27 amCan't go with an all offense defense. I think Tanev will re-sign. If he doesn't, why give Barrie a long pricey contract at 30? He'll want a raiseSKYO wrote: ↑Fri Jun 19, 2020 8:52 pmLoL like our defense currently is any better than that.Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Fri Jun 19, 2020 7:07 pm LOL
Myers Edler
Hughes Risto/ Barrie
Is fucking way worse than they just had but more expensive
Don’t quit your day jobs![]()
Tanev is likely to see only 60-65 games a season from here on out, he's obviously playing through pain in his contract year to cash in.
Barrie>>>Stecher.
& Barrie likely only will make $1M-$1.5M more per year over Tanev in AAV for these two UFA's. IF we get Barrie we ain't going after Risto.
to boot. Yikes.
No problem with having another offensive D-man who can also play the #2 PP. but not another 30 year old starting a new contract.
Lets not forget, we have to replace Edler very soon too.
Tanev and Edler block a ton of shots and passes particularly on the PK.
He won’t bump Hughes he’ll bump horvat off it. Hughes barry petey toffoli millerDoyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 6:29 am I find it hard to believe that Barrie will get 50 + points here unless he’s bumping Quinn Hughes off the #1 PP.
I watched a lot of Barrie in his last year in Colorado and he was a very underrated defender, the guy helped carry them into the playoffs. I don’t think his year in Toronto is representative of his ability to play defensively. If he’s willing to sign in that 6 million range I think you jump at it.Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 7:02 amI agree it needs a makeover but they really need D who can actually play D. Myers is average at best in his own zone, Edler is prone to more mistakes these days. I’d rather they go with an Edmunson, Dillon, Gudas, Demelo type if they let Tanev go. Barrie is a skilled player but IMHO he and Hughes would get lit up as a pairing. This will be a process rebuilding a defence that has been in decline for 7 or 8 years. The Brown Wizard wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 6:43 am Its a little bit of a stretch to consider it i know but Vans d needs a makeover. Chef I was mainly teasing Doyle about Barrie, but I wouldn’t use last year in Toronto to gauge him. His last year in Colorado was very good and it looked like he had finally shored up some of his defensive issues. Now maybe the Colorado year was the outlier and Toronto is how he’ll play and that should be avoided. Don’t worry about the eriksson contract thoughChef Boi RD wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 11:23 am Edler is loved in the dressing room, especially by Elias. His Veteran presence in that room is extremely important. One more year from his money well spent, but they do have to think beyond him to, his replacement on the left side. The book isn’t closed on Juolevi and Tryamkin but I agree - signing Toffoli is smart. If they do, one of those right wingers will be dealt for that good young D-man. I personally think it’s Boeser, I get the sense with what’s going on with his Dads health he may want to be closer to him and more often but nothing in Minnesota excites me. Dumba is the D-mans version of Virtanen.
Signing Markstrom is hugely important as well and like Edler he’s very liked in the room and is a great example of leadership. Sign him and trade Demko. Demko will get you a very good asset. Trading Demko is inevitable, if they can sign Markstrom
Tanev too is very respected in the room, would love to sign him along with Toffoli and Markstrom but signing all 3 is humanly impossible. With Tanevs age and injury history he might be the sacrifice, which is a real shame really, the potential of losing Tanev. This is where I hate the Eriksson and Sutter contract. My biggest beef with Benning. Oh well, shit contracts happen
I really hope we don’t sign Barrie. Not a fan of him at all

I’d rather pay for Tanev’s defence than Barries offence. Barrie is a gong show defensively. Not to mention there’s not enough pucks on the PP for Barrie and Hughes to play with. I’m just not seeing the fit hereThe Brown Wizard wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 11:36 am^this right here^Richardstroker69 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 11:22 amI watched a lot of Barrie in his last year in Colorado and he was a very underrated defender, the guy helped carry them into the playoffs. Barrie came in the toilet after playing some pretty dynamic hockey in colorado only to join the laughs...not exactly the model of cohesion. Theyre a team fumbling around with a special olympian for a GM, bunch of me first whiners making waaay too much and a retarded local.media/fan base basically rubishing the guy right off the bat.
I also watched a fair amount of Barrie and sure hes a smaller dman but man does he have wheels and vision.
If you want a more dynamic high scoring team you get Barrie.Toronto Maple leaves and Tyson Barrie
Barrie was not working under Babcock. Despite some decent peripheral stats, the former 60 point defenseman wasn’t scoring, and he didn’t look like the dynamic player the Toronto Maple leaves thought they acquired in the summer.
But since Keefe took over, Barrie looks like a superstar.
Tyson Barrie leads all leaves defenseman with a 54% possession rating.
He is getting 53% of the shot-share, he’s getting 53% of the scoring chances and 52% of the expected goals.
Those are FANTASTIC NUMBERS.
When you look at Barrie’s numbers with and without Morgan Rielly, what jumps out is that since being paired up, the leaves are getting 65% of the goals while they are on the ice.
That is incredible, but no players could hope to sustain that because you’d be the best of all-time if you did. What is more important than the gaudy results so far, is the 55% expected-goals rating.
This year in the NHL there are less than ten top-pairing defenseman with at least a 55% expected-goals rating.
Alex Pietrangelo, who Toronto Maple leaves fans are always wishing to acquire, hasn’t had a 55% expected goals rating in six years, and has done it just twice in his career.
Since Keefe took over, Barrie is second in the NHL in 5v5 scoring among defenseman, and is scoring at a 56 point pace.

Exactly.
