I always preferred scratch and sniff....

I like the thought that went into this post.Cherry Picker wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2020 9:15 pm Armchair GMing bigly here. How about signing Toffoli and letting Marky walk. Then trading Louie for Lundquist. Lundquist might wave to come to Vancouver since he has been displaced in NY by a couple kids in net, and Vancouver has a history with Swedes. So instead of a cap hit of 6m for Louie for two more years after this one, and probably close to 6 million for Marky for multiple years (which would be around 12m all together). They could have a 8.5m cap hit from Lundquist for only one year. The Rags are going to have a hard time finding another team that can take an 8.5 million cap hit. They would save 2.5m in cap space next season and they are going to be cap tight. But they’d have to carry Louie for the following season if they can’t convince him to retire or pay Seattle to claim him in the expansion draft. The Canucks would go with Demko and Lundquist for one season and then when it is time to sign Petey and Hughes they are free of both Louie’s and Lunquist’s cap hits.
If Demko and DiPietro play well next year, the following year the Canucks could go with them. And if one doesn’t play well they could probably trade with Seattle after the expansion draft for another goalie, or sign a FA after Petey and Hughes are locked up.
So you think AP will be worth the $8M (or more) that he will be seeking when he's 38 years old? And if he's signing for 8 years you can almost guarantee his agent will be asking for a contract that factors in the inevitable inflation that's happened when he's halfway through his contract.SKYO wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 2:49 pm Bit of a long shot for lundqvist, but an interesting target for sure there Cherry.
canucksway talking about going after Alex Pietrangelo.

Certainly would stabilize the defense core for the next 7-8 years, also would mean likely Tanev/Marky/Stecher let go for cap space.
I’m curious to see what Petro gets. I think it will be more than 8 per. We could only offer a 7 year deal. So that takes him to 37. Shea Weber is 35 and still playing great hockey. I don’t see Pietrangelo aging like Brent Seabrooke. I think he’d be a great signing but this team doesn’t have the space.Mëds wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 4:42 pmSo you think AP will be worth the $8M (or more) that he will be seeking when he's 38 years old? Big pass I think.
Agreed. Van doesnt have money to throw around right nowDoyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 4:54 pm I think he’d be a great signing but this team doesn’t have the space.

What a great player though. He got ripped off this year. Was looking to be his career best. The Brown Wizard wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 5:45 pmGood point. I would love to see tha canucks land a piece like that where they need the most help though. I might find ways to move mountains if the player was interested
We have a bit too much deadweight on the roster now. But adding a guy like Petro who is a top 5 player in the game at his position would be a definite game changer. Maybe they can take a run at Seth in a couple years. The Brown Wizard wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 5:45 pmGood point.
