I can’t remember exactly when I really got into the Canucks but my mom and dad came from back east and they were huge hockey fans but converted to Canucks when we moved out here.

I have seen this team through several owners, GMs and stars and times when the well was very very very dry. But through out it all I devoured everything Canucks. Reading the Province every day as that was the only not source of information on the team.

I never lost hope, I just went with the team though the times they went to the SC finals, staying up late to watch the multiple OT against Dallas I think.

Today with my medical issues I have a different perspective. My timeline is no longer years and years I can’t wait. I have no idea what the future holds.

Right now I have just started to think why? Why do I still put on the Canuck jersey and watch games? It is more fun to watch them with my son who finally got into it after 20. I have to now just tell him to be patient as I have seen this before and many times. My wife finally started to like hockey but follows the Maple leaves 🤮 so we have fun watching those games together.

I don’t mind seeing a mini rebuild but I need playoffs within 4-5 years, even if they just squeak in. Just make the playoffs. I really don’t care who is on the team, I stopped buying named jerseys back in Bertuzzi days.

Donny your letter was well put and the team is really close to losing our age bracket with their complete and utter destruction of this team through their constant meddling. I just wish they would sell the team to a new owner who understands.

I will still watch as much as I can, will put the game on and scroll the phone while watching. I actually feel sorry for players like Garland who has to watch someone like EP float out there at $11.6M.

Sigh

I hear ya Fingers. It's sad that it feels like the only chance we have of seeing a cup championship is to outlive the team's ownership, and a decade more to finally have a rebuild.

Why does it feel like Aquilili is just the Wop way of spelling Ballard?

Fiala is out for the season. He might boost the trade value of our UFAs. Or, does LA sit tight, and wait for next year. They are 4 points behind 4 teams for 8th. Or, does this boost the chance LA decides to grab a piece like DeBrusk/Boeser?

I love the olympics, but, we always get a few injuries to top players. It might really stir up a mess for the trade deadline, hopefully in a good way for us.

LA are 3 points out of a wild card, 3 points behind the Kraken for 3rd in the Pacific and 4 behind the Oilers for 2nd.

They have this season with Anze and not much longer with Doughty.

They just picked up Panarin.

My feeling is they intend to do right by those players giving them a shot to win.

Problem is with Greentree sent to the Rags in the Panarin deal they do not have a lot in the minors to offer up and can't really afford to deal away picks because of that.

That’s too bad really. I read somewhere that LA was a possible destination for Pettersson and the reasoning circled around this being Kopitar’s last dance.

Who knows though, organizations have done stranger things.

They have their 1st and 2 2nds in this upcoming draft. For a team that is ‘rebuilding’ that’s a good start. Also, let’s not forget that LA would be reuniting Petey with his favourite winger.

I don’t know what top prospects LA has, but I can see the building blocks of a trade with them.

Kings prospects ranked 23rd before trading Greentree.

Not great theman.

Just throwing this out there:

Byfield, B propsect, 2026 1st, 2027 1st for F. Petey.

Something like that.

Looked like a slew foot to me. Thought Wilson got away with one on that play.

With LA's current cap space plus Fiala done for the season they can comfortably add Pettersson now and not have to wait until the off season when Kopitar is off the books. We won't get 2 1sts for him. Maybe if we throw in Kane 50% retained we might. That is if LA wants to make a push.

But a 1-2 punch of Kopitar and Pettersson ain't too shabby.

I also think a 2026 2nd and 2027 1st might be more realistic than 2 first plus the rest of the package.

Adding Kane to a possible package is something too.
