No a single Dman selected this year - we must have too much depth?

Richardstroker69 wrote: Sat Jun 22, 2019 12:31 pm I like this trade, immediate impact on top 6, 4 more years at a cost controlled contract, big 200 ft player, ntc now voided, we keep the first for next year if we miss the playoffs (huge deal with how deep the draft is). I don’t get the freak out, Miller is a legit player
He is a player. Its not that...its that a rebuilding team should hang onto 1st rounders especially when your gms greatest attribute is judging amateur talent.
And shouldn't overpay in a market where other cash strapped teams are paying high prices for cap space.

And if they were going to overpay a 1st, 3rd and prospect to a cash strapped team, perhaps it should have been at a time when trying to move from competitive to contending rather than from subpar to competitive. Either way I don't think the addition of JT gets you there. For such substantive assets I would have hoped to see more of a game changer (whether O or D).
Miller isn’t a cap dump, Callahan going on ltir relieves most of Tampa’s issues, Miller is a 50 point versatile winger that’s cost controlled with no trade protection through his prime.
That may be your narrative but Brisebois said otherwise:
Eventually we were going to have to unload some players and unfortunately today was one of those days. We had to create some cap space and Miller ended up being the player moved to make that cap space.
[Emphasis added]

Someone linked the tampa fan board on here somewhere and i didnt read one post that was complaining about the return they got.

Says alot

The good thing is the player we overpaid for is still a pretty good player...even if we end up unnecessarily donating a testicle in acquiring him

Should the Canucks not make the playoffs in 2019-20, the first-round selection will move to the 2021 draft.
I LOVE THIS TRADE!! :rockin:

Miller is a large, fast, physical top six forward who plays all 3 forward positions.

And he's on a great contract.

When Miller plays in the top 6 (he didn't last season on a deep Tampa team) he racks up the points.

Your Vancouver Canucks needed a player like this, Blob Buddies need to break out of rebuild mentality.

It's time.

Try to focus on the Stanley Cup.

Jimmy will recoup a 1st in another trade along the way...

Rejoice Canuck fans!

REJOICE!!! :rockin:

Miller's NTC is gone now as he was traded before it kicked in...

How do you feel about pretty well everyone everywhere considering it an overpayment?

Hockey's Future overvalues draft picks and Miller's numbers were down because of 3rd line icetime last year.

Jimmy and J.T will prove those schmucks wrong.

And Danny?

They're often wrong...
