The States cannot be trusted anymore - doesn't matter who is in charge - every 4 years, they could elect someone else as bad or worse.

My take, this speech does more for Carney at home within his cabinet than anywhere else. He has been up against the Justin "because it's 2015" camp who fight reopening up Canada's resource sector and ability to get products to markets.
He just squashed them.
He can now bring the Liberal Party back to being the slightly left of centre Party it always was before Justin's left of NDP swing.
Meanwhile Trump arrives in Davos to declare war on Denmark.
Yep. I've got some leftist friends already complaining about his remarks on Canada's resource sector but they also don't want to accept economic reality. That was an excellent speech across multiple fronts and hopefully this means Carney can successfully shift the liberal party closer to the centre.
I got some heat from friends in Canada when I endorsed Carney as a candidate - he got a lot of heat from the government in the UK for being too political during this time as chancellor but equally showed strong leadership and poise. The man is highly intelligent, economically realistic and a good statesman.
Having said all this, let's see whether his speech has an impact on other middle powers and if Canada can benefit.

We have gone from having a seat at the table to being on the menu.
I'll have to listen to Carney's brave speech and Trump's response.

To sum up a National Post article regarding his speech.
Great words. Now it's time to put up or shut up.

John McCain was not my favourite member of the U.S. government, but he was a man of principle and integrity.
I would eat a grenade to have him be their president now.

With the recent ruling that the Trudeau-Libs did not satisfy the legal requirements for the Emergency Act, and the many things that Trump has done, or is trying to do, that have been or should be overturned by the courts.....
Carney has placed himself under a microscope for the types of actions he will take going forward. That speech has to be walked out now on many fronts, can he, or will he, accept Canadian law and respect democratic processes? Or will we see more of what we've seen from the Liberals for the last 10 years?

LOL he never saw a war he couldn't support. The biggest war monger I ever saw in the US Senate, and a complete scumbag.

Here is what I mean when I say 'you get John McCain.'
McCain meeting Al-Qaeda in Syria during the Christian genocide:
Trump welcoming their leader Al-Jolani to the Oval Office later to congratulate him:

Meanwhile Trump arrives in Davos to declare war on Denmark.
And put Carney in his place while he was at it.
How - I quickly read a summary of what Trump said and sounds like his normal model of saying Country XYZ is bad and they have taken advantage of USA.
I do expect a new 10% tariff against Canada announced within the next week.
