I loved Bluegers in the bottom-6 when this team looked on the up-and-up in 24. The kind of bottom-6 centre a team wants in the playoffs.
This is not that team anymore. It's not a matter of cap, but a matter of giving the guy another chance at winning a Cup (even though he has a ring) rather than adding to the collection 'Granlunds' this team will have moving forward until the next core comes along.
Let him go at the TDD if you can get something for him, or let him go in the offseason. Between Raty and Sasson there are younger, cheaper options in the bottom six. If Kampf wants to come back at league minimum, he wouldn't be bad insurance.
There are always decent options available in the August-September rag sale of free agents.
They do need to keep some vets though.
If they decide to move on from Garland before his new contract kicks in, then Bluegers is a good option IMHO.

This is going to be really tricky moving forward. Deciding who to keep, who to bring in - how long to sign these guys for (and how much) - will be a huge part of the rebuild.
Current management doesn't have a great track record of evaluating NHL talent, so there's a good chance this will go sideways fast. If they have more "Peteys" than "Garlands" - we're fucked.
They also need to decide on the culture they want this next era to have. Right now, we seem to have 20 individual players wearing the same uniform.

On a positive shit note... the seats project is finally going to be completed over the break. Many of them will remain empty and unused as fans suckers continue to stay away.

Wish he would just permanently shut it down, no one wants to see a vegetable on ice. Where is Mike Gillis when you need him?
You can see it in his play too - never first guy in on the forecheck, always steering away from catching the puck along the walls where he can get run over. Who the fuck wants a player like that on their team??

I read an article somewhere a few weeks back where the author was questioning the Canucks medical team and player care over some number of seasons.
He offered examples of players who had left here after battling ailments and succeeded on a healthier basis elsewhere.
As I recall he also used it to offer thoughts on Demko and EP40.
I was going to dig into it and do a fact/fiction assessment but never got around to it.
The fact that Chytil played (while obviously tentative and uncomfortable as Jello describes) might speak to validity in the theory....

There seems to be more of the "mystery injury" problem with this team. I don't follow the other teams close enough to see if this is a league-wide problem, or just something the Canucks get to deal with.
Demko and EP40 seem to be at the top of this list. Chytil obviously is a concern. But this also goes way back to players like Tanner Pearson. Might not be the same staff, but might be the same guys hiring the med team.

Migraines are a well known complication post-concussion.....and he's had multiple.
Unless they present with neurological effects besides pain, migraines are not an observable finding, they are a subjective finding. In other words, a clinician cannot detect a migraine with any exam. The migraine has to be reported by the patient.
The way Chytil keeps coming back for more, I'd say that there's a decent chance he is not reporting symptoms to the full extent.....people lie to do the things they want to do.

I have expressed similar doubts about the training staff or the roster composition before, but it seemed to me that we had all agreed (or most of us had mostly agreed) by this point in the injury thread that most of the extra injury problem that the Canucks faced could be accounted for by travel miles alone:

I might have posted a scan of the teams and their 25/26 travel in that discussion thread showing it was not exclusive to us.
Can't recall if it was that or another topic.
Regardless....the continuing failures of this organization (i.e. the inability to change out some fucking seats without drama) leads, I believe, to all doubts being back on the table.

I think we're moving on from "wow, the Canucks sure have a lot of injuries" - to wondering if any of this on the training staff, medical team, and management. We'll never know for sure - but there are indicators.
