...By the time he is ready Demko should be almost done.
So the age old question, are we better served organizationally to keep him for the highs or trading him as high as we can at the right time, whatever the right time is. I love the healthy Demko and what he brings but I have little faith in him being there for us for the long haul. So I am all for trading him IF we could get a decent return, a 1st plus a young prospect/roster player. A good one.
Speaking as someone who has nursed a few vehicles through their last years, I think Demko is almost done now.
(i.e., if Demko were such a car, the next repair projected to cost over $200 would send him to the parts yard.)
So for me, the right time is as soon as anyone is willing to make an offer, and a decent return is any asset that can be hoped to contribute to the re-build. I think the Canucks already waited too long to get what would feel like reasonable trade-in value given how great peak Demko was.

It moves and shakes.
Bobs and weaves.
This phenomenon has been noted by the hockey media (AKA Idiots).
This is a deep draft. Hope Minny gets killed first round.
Get a top 3 pick with our pick and pick one of Mckenna, Stenberg, Lawrence. If it ends up top 7 you still have Belchetz, Carels, Reid, Verhoeff.
You could have fallers like Hurlburt, Malhotra, Rudolph, Lin and some others there for the Minny pick.
The second pound oick is currently 34. Tons of talent there. Guys kike the Ruck twins and Joe Iginla will climb. There's a big Finnish kid that hasn't olayed yet that is rated bottom first round.
Need lots of shots at the dart board this coming year.
“I don’t care what you and some other poster were talking about”
Chef wants Lin or Bjorck with the Minny pick. Bjorck has the potential to be a first line player. Super dynamic and high end skill, hands, vision and IQ. A clever hockey player like a Swedish Patrick Kane
What do you think Kane brings back? If we get a 2nd round pick in the 50’s, I’d be happy. Even if we retain. Chef, what’s the 2nd round looking like? Is it better than usual?

Not sure about the 2nd round. Chef kinda sticks to the top 20 zone.
A down year for the US National Development Team - only four Americans in that first round and none of them from the National program.
Even fewer Russians, with the only one playing in the NCAA. Dunno what’s going on in the KHL; wonder if it’s the league suffering from the war in Ukraine money-wise or if the scouts aren’t allowed into the country.

They don't come back from the front?
Oh, they haven't come for those kids... yet. They're busy emptying out all the Asiatics in Siberia to send to Ukraine now, but sooner or later...
It is to wonder how the IIHF sanctions have affected the development of young Russian prospects who haven't been able to test themselves against international competition. Sucks to be them.
