Congratulations Canada!

A fun game, a fun series. Seesawing first two periods, and then tentative play in the third gave way to a thrilling overtime. Hard to believe Binnington stepped up -- but those were some high quality chances for the USA in OT and he was great. And McDavid scoring the winner? I hated it.... If Canada was to win, maybe Sid could have? Or Reinhart? Even Mackinnon! But it kind of had to be McDavid, didn't it. Capitalized on a huge breakdown by the US group that didn't have too many of them in the tourney.

The Canuck fan in me hated that it was McJesus, because it just feeds that narrative that he's a winner who will inevitably win a Cup. Narratives can do wonders for morale and confidence in high-powered situations, and that's the last thing one would want to have in the Oilers dressing room come playoffs.

The Canada fan in me was just happy we won, no matter who scored. McDavid with the puck, in that part of the ice, with that much space, it would have haunted everybody if he hadn't scored and they lost.

Agreed. USA played incredible team defence - especially against Canada. I'm sure they're all lamenting that one brain-fart in coverage.

It showed what a poor sport McJesus really is. He could not get on the ice to accept the Con Smyth in the SC Playoffs but he gladly accepted the player of the game award last night, an award that Bennington should have received.

Nice summary there by Corrado. Would love to see more of that kind of stuff in the TV intermission panel discussion. They do it sometimes, but this is the kind of stuff Meeker was great at.

Seems we weren't the only people watching
9.3 million viewers, with 10.4 million viewers at its peak. It was also the largest audience for a non-NFL event on ESPN+

That is excellent news, great to see so many people watch the game.

Yeah...a good number of folks chatting about this on socialz.

JJ Watt for instance remarking that boys of his who are relatively unfamiliar with the game (JJ played for 10 years as a kid until he concentrated on football but still loves the game) were approaching him all stoked about the mini tourney...

...hopefully they continue to build on this.

Olympics '26 might just be fun...

I like Frankie's analyses generally speaking, but he's a biased Leaves-lover.

Yes the dman (Fox) fucked up, but he was on his way towards Marner.

Pigman should not have left McDink alone in front of the net.
