Rumours swirling that Nucks are trying to obtain the rights to Jake Guentzel.
Rumours say the feelings are mutual, what with the Pittsburgh connection.
Guentzel would be perfect on Petey's wing in my opinion.
Only problem is he'll be 30 by puck drop.
Still I say... Make it so.
Hronek for Guentzel.
Petey out for a RHD.
Re-sign Lindholm.
Use the balance for another useful UFA signing.
Bumps the overall age up on the roster perhaps, shortens the current window. But I say why not do it, because I think that trying to compete even remotely long-term with Petey as the next top-C as Miller ages is a recipe for failure.

Thanks for the explanation.

Mëds must've come home from Nunavut to the toilet seat up and some Ikea boxes hidden out back

Crazy, Hronek for Guentzel. Hronek is a RHD and an RFA. You trade Hronek for Necas plus the rights to Guentzel at least.
If you can swap Pettersson out for a top 4 RHD D then do it. If that allows us to re-sign Lindholm and Zadorov even better. But I can't see it.

Well that's fine. I'm just saying sure Hronek out for quality F in.

Nor can I.
But that would be some upscale, potentially Cup winning GM'ing.
Which is what dem boyz are paid millions upon millions to sort out, source out and get done.

So who’s on the short list for top pairing RHD Petey could draw?
Which team is desperate for a franchise centre?

What team can absorb scooter boy's $11.6 million per?

I think currently:
Utah
San Jose
Detroit
Anaheim
Chicago
Buffalo
Maybe Seattle, Nashville.
Bruins desperately need a centre and have wingers EP could play with.
Maybe something is there with Carlo and Ullmark et cetera and we can flip Ullmark to the Sens, Carolina, Jersey, Sabres for roi and keep Brandon then move Hronek for value.

Not at all confident locking in 9+ million for a small, 29 year old skilled winger who has only sometimes been a point per game player while being on Crosby’s wing is a great idea. Reminds me of the hype when they signed Eriksson to play with the Sedins, or traded Neely to get Barry Pederson. Hopefully these Guentzel rumours are more the typical tried and true agent’s strategy of rumouring their clients are signing in Vancouver so they can get better offers from the east coast team their player will actually sign with. I’d rather they use that cap space to fill their more vital position on defense and add more size. They can wait to see if Lekkerimaki can develop into the next Guentzel if 9m+ is Guentzel’s price. Too old and too small to make a huge long term deal worthwhile. It could be the Canucks next huge mistake.

Is Power more of a LD or RD?

Power is a left shot, but to have one of Power/Hughes on the ice for 90% of the game is scary good.
Having a top 4 RHD is ideal, but bringing in a secondary puck moving/2-way D-man is integral for managing Quinn’s mins long term, while providing a 2nd wave of offence from the back end.
Power can play both sides.

Ratsnest Dahlin would be my choice but it likely requires a significant add to bring that fish back
