I predict the LA Kings will win the Hughes sweepstakes, that team is a tire fire

or, Willie gets the team into the playoffs, 101 point season, and then they are REALLY screwed for 6-7 years!!

I'd take a dman Soderstrom and someone like N. Foote 6'3 LW, done dealy, lets start 2019/20 season.

http://www.mynhldraft.com/NHL-Mock-Draft/
As someone mentioned early, Pacific Division is a joke an this team can squeak into the playoffs - if they are a sniff away a the end of Feb, Edler ain't waiving and the team isn't trading him - they probably sign him to an extension.
Wishful thinking unless the Canucks upgrade their defense and goaltending mid-season (yeah right), I can't see Calgary (deep defense), San Jose, Vegas (west conference champs), Winnipeg (crazy good) and the Stars (vet heavy with good goaltending) losing their playoff spots now, especially with our mediocre goaltending and defense (defense wins championships?), our forwards scoring will make it a successful season overall tho with team points set to the mid to high 80's.

But also the Ducks and one of the Blues + Kings(w/ a healthy Jonathan Quick) should improve over the season.

Oilers and Blackhawks likely go into a 3way tie with the Canucks just as we are at 10-12th in the West.

All that said this team should keep it interesting, but not playoff worthy yet, so Edler should be in play.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

At the highest we are drafting between 6th. But I see us as landing somewhere between 8th and 16th.

They are bottom 5 in points pctg.

A top 5 pick next June and a top 10 one with hopefully some lottery pick in the Lafreniere sweepstakes. Playoffs in 2021.

Hughes
Kaako
Cozens
Dach
Pokholdzin
Turcotte

Some real high end talent at forward in the 2019 draft

Turcotte will be the only one available to us. The rest will have already been selected

I can see the Canucks ending up in the 3 or 4 hole. Other than Chicago and LA, who is shittier than Vancouver? Maybe Ottawa?

It would be nice to get some lotto luck for a change the next couple years.

Facts, every dog has his day, be nice just to move up a bit, every draft didn't the Canucks fall back a bit in the order? s-m-h.

I'd start to analyze Kirby Dach, could be like Dubois? He's a huge center but can be a superb C/RW with Horvat, Dach even though he's 6'4, dude can skate for a big guy.

http://www.mynhldraft.com/2019-nhl-draf ... Kirby-Dach

But shit I'd be happy with either of the big RW's Cozens or Kakko as well.
2019:
DAHLEN - PETTERSSON - BOESER
GOLDOBIN - HORVAT - DACH/KAKKO/COZENS
ROUSSEL/(bart?) - SUTTER - VIRTANEN
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Are either of those wingers projecting as being ready to challenge for an NHL roster spot like Brady Tkachuk?

I have to check age ranges, as Brady was one of the oldest draftees I believe in the last draft.

Just watched the Rockets play Saskatoon tonight, Dach is huge and skates amazingly well and fast for a 6’3” 195lb 17 year old. Holy hell!

If the Canucks can get their hands on this kid they should, no question.

He and Korczak had some good battles out there!

These stats are a couple of days old. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdis ... pid=197655
He's ranked 4th. Real early but if he maintains his current path, that is a dream power center!

I worry that the big power forward centre doesn’t hold as much stock as it used to in the new NHL, see Nolan Patrick, but he definitely looks to be a top 5 pick, I think one or some of those Americans after Hughes could end up being steals like Zegras, Boldy, Turcotte, Kaliyev etc if they don’t go top 5

Scheifle, Mathews, Eichel, Barkov, Horvat, Dubois say hi. Draisityl, Malkin.

No room in the game for big centres or play making wingers.

He’s not in that Eichel, Mathews, Malkin category but you can make an argument for the others whose category he seems to fall in but will he be a bum like Nolan Patrick who put up better numbers than Dach
