Only in Calgary!

Imagine, surreptitiously recruiting Gary Bettman, aka the Most Hated Man In Canada, to campaign for you.

This ain't exactly House of Cards, is it?

What happened the last time Ken King tried this bluff? I don't remember if there was a boycott or something, but I do remember he had his tail between his legs apologizing profusely about threatening to move the team within a couple of days.

They'd have a great team and a lot of assets to trade!

Ya know, I gotta be honest about something.
Now I hate the Flames as much as anybody. We got them good in 94 though!!
The hate thing is just a good ole fashioned rivalry. A healthy rivalry.
Sure there's jealousy and both ways over the years, I'll bet.
But the thought of losing another Canadian franchise just doesn't seem right.
Not against Seattle having a team, not at all.
Even though I still think Portland is a better hockey town.

Copied this from Hockey Buzz. To lazy to type it out:

"Pierre LeBrun reports that cap would go up to $78 Million if Player’s Association wants zero inflator (which would mean no corresponding increase in escrow) and as much as $82 Million with full 5% inflator. "
***********************
That's a nice increase and a potentially huge swing, 78-82.

I think we should get into a bidding war over Karlsson if he makes it to FA.

He won't go to market. The Sens will re-sign him. It's either that or blow up the team. The owner is known as a cheapskate, but even he knows that the fanbase here is fragile enough that numbers will dwindle if he's gone. Wrong signal to the fanbase if Karlsson leaves.

Yes but Karlsson went on record talking about the big name D the Sens have already let walk. He has said he will not contemplate any type of home town discount. If he doesn't get what he knows he's worth he won't hesitate to go to market.

Keep in mind this franchise also played around with Alfredsson. He took a couple of hometown discounts, was made promises in his last one that the team would make it up to him next one, which never happened.

I think the Sens would be foolish to not open the vault for him but historically they have never done that. If they can't resign him they would be smart to trade him, sooner rather than later.

So I'm just saaaaaaaying.

^ But shortly after that Karlsson said this:

https://www.aftonbladet.se/sportbladet/ ... agt-av-mig

Which someone translated that as:
I dont really said that(that i am open to leave Ottawa), but thats how they twisted it. I wanna stay in Ottawa, its my home and my first priority. My comment was taken out of context. Its more about, when the time comes, if its me or anyone else, you are going to get what you are worth, it was nothing more than that. My priority has always been to stay here for my whole career. The media twisted it and thats how the media are over here at times.
So yeah, who knows...

If I had to, I'd guess Sens re-sign Karlsson in the summer (not due to go UFA until 2019).

But I do like your fantasy there Dubs! :santa:

Like I said, the Sens would be crazy for not opening the vault for him. Stupid media and their fake news!!
