I will say this about Kessel though. I thought Burkie was off his rocker when he traded 2 1st rounders for Kessel. Kessel turned out to be a consistent top goal scorer for the leaves and he still has a shit load of goals still left in him at just 26. Tyler Seguin and Dougie Hamilton are good players, but the Bs gave up on Seguin due to his inconsistency. Seguin does seems to be coming around in Dallas though. I'd say the trade is pretty fair for both teams atm.

If the leaves had Seguin and Hamilton, they'd be far better off than they are right now. Bozak is not a top-line Centre. Seguin is. Hamilton (6'5, 21 years old) would be a MAJOR building block for a D that already includes promising youngsters in Morgan Rielly and Jake Gardiner.

A major reason for that trade was Burke's desire to rebuild quickly. Since that trade they leaves have played 7 playoff games (in a lockout year). The teams' results certainly indicate Burke didn't accomplish what he wanted to with that deal. Sure, Kessel scores a lot of goals. For all that offence, his team doesn't seem to be much better for it.

If the Laughs had just remained patient, they would be miles ahead of where they are right now.

You only make this trade if the last piece of puzzle for your team to win the SC is a sniper. And even then, you think long and hard on giving up what ended up being the second overall pick.

If Hamilton is a superstar, so is Gardiner, Rielly and Phaneuf.

I remember when Jared Knight alone was going to be better "Overall" than Phil. His hype was embarrassing. Now no one even remembers him.

I will say this, it's a lot harder to get a top sniper than an offensive minded centre and/or a good 2-way D man. There's only a few top snipers in the league (not every team even has 1), while there's a bushel full of offensive centres and 2-way D men (just about every team has a few of those guys).

And comparing Phaneuf to Shea Weber is comparing apples and kiwis. Phaneuf commands ZERO respect in this league. He's a joke. I saw it in the 24/7 series and I've seen it in All Star games which leads to my rotten apple core hypothesis about the Laughs.

Ummmm.....I've met, and played with, plenty of people who are uncoachable. It has nothing to do with how smart or stupid a coach is. It comes down to the player being willing to accept advice. If a player thinks he knows better than everyone else, then nobody can tell him what to do.

To say nobody is uncoachable is a bit naive.
