Ferlands agent said he wasn’t going to camp. He is already on LTIR
Isnt there some restriction where teams need to wait til day 1 of the season before they gain the actual cap space?
I think thats only if they're exceeding the cap by over 10%.
Ah ok thanks for the clarification. I knew there was some rule or another lol
It's waaaaaaaay more complicated than that.
Off-season LTIR only works for certain teams in certain situations.
Ferland will go on LTIR on the last day of camp...
Lawyers are ruining the world

Still I'd like to see us bring Hambone Man to camp on a PTO.
(like St Lou did with The Hoff)
Last day of camp, put Ferland on LTIR and officially sign Hammy to the handshake-agreement $2M 1-year deal.

Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
Certainly will be more detail in morning, but there are rumblings Travis Hamonic will go to VAN on a PTO. GM Jim Benning and coach Travis Green are scheduled to speak on Sunday.

Looks like this is likely happening. I still hope they keep Rathbone up if his camp is good. ..If we do end up signing Hamonic for the season it will counter act the advantage the Flameouts obtained in knowing our plays when over-paying for the services of our ex players.

Crappy year to have no pre-season games for Rafferty to show he can kill penalties. With Green in charge, Rafferty is now behind Myers, Schmidt, Hamonic and Benn on the right side, with no route to getting NHL ice time. By the time Rafferty gets a legitimate look, Woo will have passed him on the depth chart. Benning should start planning Rafferty’s trade now. He is too old to be a prospect. After his season last year, he should be getting a legitimate look in the NHL, not going back to Utica. He’ll end up being a wasted asset.
Hamonic has had a lot of R&R having skipped the bubble. If he had any ailments, he’ll be well healed. I still think of him as a Fantenberg (off the glass and out) type player who will get burned on the outside by fast forwards. But like Fantenberg, he should be okay in front of the net on the PK. Hopefully he hasn’t gotten any slower with all his time off.
This signing is probably a good thing for a good left-side skater like Rathbone. Rathbone would cover up Hamonic’s mobility issues more than Juolevi or Benn. I’m not a fan of this move to sign Hamonic, but I’m pretty sure Green is. The Canucks should have gone with the prospects.
