I want to see the team dump Myers.
You want to see the team dump their best center.
Which part was semantics?
Your entire post. I was saying flush everyone except a couple vets, you said flush everyone except a couple different vets.
We are both looking at 4-5 years from now.
No. I said keep certain vets and you said that the guys I wanted to keep needed to go to change the culture.

Brock may be interchangeable with DeBrusk, but Garland, Myers, and Hronek, are guys that will provide a stronger culture than any of the existing ones.
When it comes down to it, the return is really what is going to matter the most. The universe of players in the organization to target to potentially build around is exceedingly small (Zeev, TW, Ohgren, Sushi, Cootes); everything else is really a question of return value. Is what's coming back on the market now less than they expect in the offseason, or a year from now? Is what's coming back something of minimal value where it is outweighed by the pedestrian need to ice some players and why not ice players who aren't toxic and whose names are on the backs of the remaining fans? Will the Canucks *lose* assets to unload a player?

My personal vet to keep is Hronek because I believe that there is a great value in having one rock solid veteran defender for the youth defenders to play with, learn from, and take tough matchups on when they still have Bambi legs. The Canucks most valuable players-for-the-future that are signed and in the organization are heavily defensmen, and their success and development is the most likely place with the Cancuks could develop a marginal advantage over median team in one of the of the three corps (forwards, defensemen, goaltending). You don't take for granted that you have the 2030 covered more or less, you do what you can to ensure this happens..... But even then not at any opportunity cost. I want to keep Hronek, but I could certainly be bought out of this disposition for a great package..... Sometimes acquiring significant assets plus partial role replacement via free agency is simply going to improve chances of success more than deploying the most optimal personnel strategy for youth D development.

The one vet I am very loath for the Canucks to trade is Hronek. RD that can play on the top pairing do not grow on trees and are hard to obtain, it would take a Quinn Hughes return for me to be willing to trade him, if I was managing the Canucks.

I get the feeling that 1 of Garland or F Petey will be gone by the TDL, along with the UFAs and DeBrusk.

I’ll all for moving on from Myers.

I think Mancini’s play in both leagues this year is preventing him from sticking with Vancouver. This management group has rarely withheld a young kid from competing on the big club when he’s shown the ability.

I tried to get ‘Letterkenny’ to stick but the bored chose ‘sushi.’

I don't see the guy as core to anything except a core bargaining chip

dynamic - sometimes
small - yes
oft injured - yes
stagnating growth - yes

I have serious questions about anyone who can't crack the current roster of Granlunds

Yeah, he’s not going anywhere (unless some other GM loves him like our guys love Kotkaniemi and Lafrenière and various other busts) but a guy in his draft+4 season who can’t make the worst team in the league is not exactly showing promise.

Hopefully we clear enough vets out for him to make the team out of camp next year and if he doesn’t show anything we can move him on while he still has any value (if he does).

When you put it that way.....

The only defense I will give him is that young wingers that aren't in that Pastrnak/Panarin/Kucherov tier, often need a legit pivot to maximize both their effectiveness and confidence. He has not had that.

Do you give him one last chance and pair him with Scooter? If indeed EP is playing like a 1C as MCP claims, then maybe there's something to be found there. I don't recall seeing those two given much ice time together before. At this point the worst that happens is nothing and you trade him to become another dart. At best, magic, and both their values increase.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

They want to bring him up to play out the season. He had been injured, then got sick but is now playing very well. I think we will see him soon enough.

There's hope for diplomacy.

There's still time for "Sushi". More worried about Mancini struggling to stick. Still young for a D but not shown enough, time is ticking and losing hope. Between he, Chytil's health and Meaty doing Meaty things, the Miller return is looking better and better everyday. Is DOC the salvage? Hope we can scoop something of value up to improve the return and branch out the tree.
