You are assuming your team will have 18 million dollars per year for 8 years when his ELC is up, no?BigTuna wrote:Oh My you mean we could lose him in 2023?micky107 wrote:The mighty Matthew heart, lay in wait for the cacti.BigTuna wrote:So Laine is better than Matthews, Marner is a bust, Andersen is horrific and the Canucks will finish higher in the standings than the leaves you say?

I'm looking at our cap and are very confidant, yes. Rielly and Kadri for 9 million combined through their prime years.micky107 wrote:You are assuming your team will have 18 million dollars per year for 8 years when his ELC is up, no?BigTuna wrote:Oh My you mean we could lose him in 2023?micky107 wrote:The mighty Matthew heart, lay in wait for the cacti.BigTuna wrote:So Laine is better than Matthews, Marner is a bust, Andersen is horrific and the Canucks will finish higher in the standings than the leaves you say?

And you're assuming the NHL's poorest team in Arizona will have 18 million per in cash?
Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread
Let's see. In 3 years, the NHL will OK the relocation of the Yotes to Seattle and then...BigTuna wrote:I'm looking at our cap and are very confidant, yes. AM will see plenty of the Pacific Northwest and then...
AM will see Vancouver more often and then..
He will fall in love with Vancouver and demand a trade here and then...
We will take him, raise our glasses and toast our friends in Toronto and Glendale.

It's called the Edmonton Oiler/Colorado Avalanche Model for success, build around a few skilled pond hockey forwards and a razor thin defense and defensive minded forwards and think that's all you need to be good in the NHL.

Yeah I lik a lot of the Leaf forwards but that D is a mess at present and for the future. I don't see much there besides ReillyRoyalDude wrote:It's called the Edmonton Oiler/Colorado Avalanche Model for success, build around a few skilled pond hockey forwards and a razor thin defense and defensive minded forwards and think that's all you need to be good in the NHL.

The #'s say the leaves have 3 very solid D-Men. It is better than you are stating. Jake Gardiner is really underrated. Zaitsev was one of the very best UFA signings.Blob Mckenzie wrote:Yeah I lik a lot of the Leaf forwards but that D is a mess at present and for the future. And how can anyone compare Colorado to Toronto at this point? Colorado's biggest issue is their "Young Stars" aren't as good as they thought. Mavkinnon still has never looked as good as his first 40 NHL games. Landeskog is just overrated. People want to push him as this great two-way player who's an amazing leader. He's very underwhelming thus far.

They'll have to pay the still-questionable Zaitsev UFA dollars (if they can keep him).
Gardiner is hot poo... and even if a miracle occurs, he's a UFA in 2 years.
The rest of the dee in the system are not even worth mentioning...

The leafers have more talent with Mathews and Marner.
They are STILL playing loosy-goosy hockey, no change there, no indication of a better system.
What a waste.
