Vancouver Canucks sign NCAA star Adam Gaudette to three-year deal
People can now exhale after some of gasps heard around here when he was taking his time signing. Let's see how the kid does in the couple games he'll get now. Hopefully he gets a couple of summer training tips from Brock and comes in hitting the ground running in September.
Nice news 😊 - it's apt to be the best part of my day. Any time we hear about a Hobey Baker finalist, it conjures up positive vibes for any team, not just the sad-sack Canucks. Here's an example (potentially anyways), of why it's so important to acquire picks.

Green was gushing love bombs over Sautner’s play last night. Sounds like he’s everything they want Hutton to be, well at least what Green wants. Hard in his own end, hits, clears the puck, makes good passes, skates well, plays with an edge, good and strong along the boards, good coverage.

Does this early Sautner love push Hutton further out the door.

I gotta agree with TG. Unlike Hutton, Sautner knows his limit and plays within it. He will not be a big point producer but he could be a solid 6/7 defenseman.

Just incase we need more reason to be excited about Gaudette getting in the lineup:

(Looks like this kid loves to score!) :D

A lot similarities, and it will be interesting to see if Gaudette has anything close to Brock's hockey smarts. Very similar shooting skills, which should make our PP look similar with two snipers who like to set up on the low, left side.

Yup Green like every coach loves the hard hitting worker bee's "if you're not scoring - you better be doing all the gritty hard work" styles.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Fantastic Day for the Canucks!!!!

Gaudette signing is great news! Jim really stole this kid in the draft, you can’t make a pic like this with out doing your home work...I don’t want to hear the blind squirrel analogies Jim is one of the best scouting eyes in the game. He was dumbfounded that Lind was still on the board last year.

Tier 1 - Prospects

Gaudette
Pettersson
Dahlen
Juolevi
Gadjovich
Lind
Demko

2018 Draft?!! Here we come!!! Take the day to celebrate the wins, Jim wins big with this kid and so do we as fans.

GO CANUCKS GO!!!!

Definitely stoked to see this news. Was slightly concerned the delay might lead to another defection. Will be interesting to see him play in the last few games.

Good job, JB.

Nice signing which makes next few games interesting.

Leipsic Gaudette Virtanen should be put together right away.
They are my future third line according to my master plan.

I too am imagining that signing Gaudette puts the Hockey Gauds on our side. We’ll find out at the lottery.

... or another case of us taunting and tempting them... :/

I don't care how big the under_score is, as long as he's another saviour for our team. :D

Hockey Widow wrote: Mon Mar 26, 2018 4:31 am So someone more knowledgable than me pkaesa confirm.

If Gaudette's plays one game in the NHL he burns one year on his ELC. Correct?

But he needs to play ten games for the season to count as one pro season. Correct?

If this is true, he will be exempt from the expansion draft as he will either be a first year or second year pro, depending upon when the expansion draft year happens. Correct?
Pretty sure this is correct but I don't have time to check right now.

And yes AHL seasons count.

It seems pretty much for sure the expansion draft will be in 2020.
