Well, me thinks some of you Soucey fans may want to take it up with Allvin whom has been reported to be open to offers on him. Let’s be honest here, he’s had a garbage season, so not sure how you can defend it. M-Petey is obviously the 2nd pair LS D-man now. Maybe management doesn’t like the idea of paying a third pairing D-man $3.25 million per year. Maybe it’s coming down to cap management and them wanting to clear some more $$$ off the cap table and wanting to be a player in the UFA market or trade deadline. I believe it all his to do with future planning. I cant remember the GM who said it but he said trade negotiations for certain players can go on for months, it’s a back and forth process that doesn’t happen over night. Maybe it’s all about the money regarding Soucey and not the man for other reasons.

Soucy is currently at worst the # 5 D man and his pay and play reflect that. Much to do about nothing except for the pee pants outfit and the media neckbeards. He starts 2/3 of his shifts in his own end and unlike last year, he and Myers don't have Ian Cole and Nikita Zadorov to help soak up those hard, high leverage minutes. They cant keep shipping guys out because it's fun for fans. Soucy isn't an issue. If he's traded for an upgrade or part of a package for an impact player, fine. But there's some folks that think they net a blue chip prospect and a 1st for he and Boeser. It's just that easy.

Soucy on the 3rd pairing with the ability to do spot-duty in the top-4 is what management signed him to do, and that's not unrealistic. He's been pressed into top-4 service too much because of injuries and lack of depth that would keep him on the 3rd pairing. $3.35 AAV is a bit rich for a 3rd-pair d-man, but I would say the team is paying for his ability to step up in the lineup in a pinch.

With the cap rising, the cap hit may not seem so egregious. Unless management needs that cap space to make a deal, I agree that there's no rush to send Soucy out the door. Keep him on the 3rd pairing to herd either a youngster like D-Petey or a tweener plug like Forbort or Juulsen.

I'm pretty sure the situation is Allvin will listen to offers, but he's not shopping Soucy and won't part with him unless the return is too tempting.
