Might, but not very likely. For 80% of those affected it’s like a mild case of the common cold. 10% may need hospital care though, and half of those may even need intensive care. But most of those are in their 70s or older.

Well, Trump decided to shut down and disdolve the NSC Pandemic Office, so it kind of would seem that he wasn’t to interested in having those experts around.

As for politicizing.... i shan’t name names, but shutting borders and pointing fingers at eg China and the EU is exactly that, and goes against WHO recommendations.

I had the swine flu in late '09 and I could have used intensive care. Felt like I was going to die.

This is true, but I was talking to Blob, who will no doubt catch this bug and get very, very sick from it.

both should be completely gone by the end of November though.

Twas interesting to see the traffic today. My commute is only Poco to Pitt Meadows but I’d say the traffic was 30% less... maybe more. I was pretty blazed tbh. A lot of that could be attributed to Spring Break as well. I’m one of the unfortunate people who can’t work from home other than maybe for a couple of hrs a day. I need to be on the job at least six hrs a day right now.

I hope the kids are out of school for the rest of the year. They can do complete their studies online this year.

My commute was much better too, for sure Spring break had an impact but will see how the virus has an impact over the coming month. We currently do not have the technology for me to fully function at home but that will be remedied in the coming week.

I've thought Dr Henry had been doing a very good job keeping us informed. That was until late last week. Today was a travesty.

First there was a decision to limit the info on individual cases, no longer would the give the age sex or reason for individual infections. Regional Heath Units of BC would only be mentioned as groupings.

The more troubling comment came on the weekend as the vague, coached statement that testing was being limited and those with mild symptoms would no longer be tested. That hinted at today's news.

Testing is back logged by several days at the lab. There in an effort to increase testing capacity, but that won't happen for a few days. They have fallen behind. Only test confirmed cases are announced.

Considering they are only testing those with moderate or higher symptoms, and there is a backlog, we're in for some large number of confirmed cases in the coming days.

The brief descriptions of the 30 additional cases in the last two days was the vaguest it has ever been. It appears Lynn Valley Care and Lions Gate Hospital are current shit shows. Add in the Dental Conference and it's spread throughout Canada (Dr Henry seemed fairly pissed about that one).

The emptying of acute care beds and the transfer of surgery staff and space to the picture and they are looking at the hospitals getting very busy in the next few days to week. Good to see them prepping though.

Another thing that has been missing from the picture until the last few days is political sniping. The Provinces are clearly upset with the lack of action coming out of Ottawa on the immigration front. The half measures announce by the woke one in isolation were immediately slammed by the Provinces.
