I'm assuming results from these types of surgeries have improved over the last 20+ years. Saying Boeser and Holden in the same sentence scares me.
There's a significant difference between the two cases IMO - Holden had his wrist sliced by a skate blade in junior and his stickhandling/shot were never the same; Boeser injured his wrist from a slash to the glove rom an opposing stick.
Still, wrist surgery for a kid who makes his living off his shot is
greatly concerning. No doubt the Canucks organization is doing whatever it can within NCAA regulations to see that his wrist gets the best treatment. Hopefully he makes a full recovery and is convinced that it's not worth his while taking further risks against undrafted scholarship chumps and makes the jump to pro next Fall.
I
was looking forward to watching the World Juniors this year...

So is there any reason for a Canucks fan to watch the WJHC? With no prospects to watch, there's only so much TSN hyperbole I can take.

If his progress in London is any indication, then... meh.

Do you know what the turnover in London was from last season to this? They lost all 4 of their top scoring forwards.
While I don't follow the team enough my educated guess would be they had a bit of a transition giving different guys a lot more ice-time. The consistent has been Juolevi and Mete as the top defenseman, and Mete was cut from Team Canada.
After all that turnover they are 1 point out of the OHL league lead in points with a game in hand on Erie BTW. And only Erie has scored more goals and Windsor allowed less goals than them!
This tourney will actually give us a good opportunity to watch him. Lets see if he can up his game with the best competition in his age group again. Last year he picked up 9 assists in 7 games, not sure what Finland's team looks like this year but they'll be missing Laine for sure. Let's see if he can maintain his level of play!

OJ is all we have this year.
Pretty depressing indictment of our prospect pool it seems to me. I know BB is injured, which is too bad, but geez will we ever see some Canuck prospects standout at the WJC?

I believe Lukas Jasek will be playing for the Czechs...
#Canucks may only have 2 representative @ #WJC2017 in Olli Juolevi & Lukas Jasek

Yeah, beware the TSN WJHC hype-athon. Did Stetcher ever play in that tourney? Not that he'll for sure be the second coming of Rafalski, but the WJHC is not the be-all-end-all of NHL prospect stardom.
It is an indicator as much as any, though...

If I recall, he had as many points as Tavares. We were excited.

I remember that - Cody was already drafted by Vancouver (2008), Tavares was in the draft the following year (2009). Tavares won the MVP, but many said the honor should have gone to Hodgson.
A lot of people were saying if Cody was in the same draft as Tavares, he would have challenged for the 1st over all pick.

Yes we were excited. He had the "intelligence, integrity and character" that Gillis loved...a sure fire prospect.
What a disappointment in the end.
