Of course the Canucks could come out and say they have no intention of trading Quinn as well.

Devils losing 8-4 tonight, wonder if they will start feeling pressure to ‘make the trade.’

Key Aspects of NHL Tampering
Direct or Indirect Contact: Tampering is generally defined as making direct or indirect contact with a player under contract about their future services without the current team's permission.
Contracted Personnel: The prohibition applies to communication between any team representative (owners, GMs, coaches, or players) and a team's contracted player.
Serious Offense: Tampering is considered a serious offense by the league and can result in significant fines and penalties. In the past, the maximum fine for tampering was raised to $500,000.
"Soft Tampering": While some "soft tampering" (e.g., media speculation or general comments) may occur, the NHL typically only acts when the offense is clear and potentially harmful to league operations.
Enforcement: The NHL Commissioner has the authority to investigate and enforce tampering rules as part of maintaining league policy and procedure. If another team feels they have been tampered with, they can raise the issue with the league office.\
[edit] - yes, Hughes could absolutely come out and say "I would like to stay here", butt hats about as far as its supposed to go.
Friedman should be brought up on Tampering for the frenzy he is continuing.

It’s not. You can’t tamper with yourself, and no team that hopes Hughes goes to free agency can claim it is tampering because that claim would then indicate their intentions and by definition would then be tampering.Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Fri Dec 12, 2025 11:07 amQuinn is under contract with the Canucks. No clue why he’s interpreting it that way.

The greasy Rick the Rumour Mill Dhaliwal on Hughes: One team told me they can't match what the Wings have in assets.
I believe it, the Wings have the most and best options
1. Edvinsson - LS D
2. Sandin Pellika - RS D
3. Carter Bear - LW
4. Danielson - C
5. Kasper - C
6. First round draft picks

That’s a fair package for Hughes. Maybe the Canucks can throw in Kane too, so Detroit can feel like they creamed them.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Fri Dec 12, 2025 2:00 pm The greasy Rick the Rumour Mill Dhaliwal on Hughes: One team told me they can't match what the Wings have in assets.

I don’t think we are getting all of that, just saying that the Wings have a lot to play with.theman wrote: ↑Fri Dec 12, 2025 2:09 pmThat’s a fair package for Hughes. Retain heavy on Hughes and even take another expiring bad contract back.
