Fire Rutherford and Allvin now.
Promote Johnson to interim and give him the reigns until game 82.

We don't need any sort of bump though. Not yet. The losing is just what the Doctor (RIP) ordered
Let the old man flush out as much as he can for picks and then throw the reigns over to whoever once the season is done but before the draft

Clean house on Feb 6th. There’s a 2 week roster freeze for the Olympics. Replace them with the permanent guys who then have 13 days to assess and prepare for the stretch into the trade deadline.

Seriously tho…..
MPetey hasn’t impressed this year. The AAV isn’t bad for a #4, but the NMC makes it an atrocious contract. It doesn’t help that he’s been playing like a #6.
when he was paired with Myers, everyone looks worse.
I submit that a middle pairing dman worthy of $6M does not look that much worse regardless of partner. The partner can lead to a poorer +/- and whatever fancy stats you want to employ, and he may be out of position a bit more often trying to cover for his partner. However, it doesn’t lead to being out battled, outsmarted, taking stupid penalties, and making bad passes, to the same level that we have seen. He has no shot to speak of, and he’s not rushing the puck or handling it with much efficiency.
One can argue he’s a reliable #4 on a team with Hughes, Hronek, and (for example) Tanev, behind a competent forward grouping. He has never shown being worthy of $6M + NMC.
Well, good thing he makes 5.5M then.

It only fees like $6M because he’s Swedish.

I don’t believe the old man deserves to finish the season.
Give Johnson the task of cleaning house until the off season, then reevaluate

I'm on board with that.

True dat. So many people deserve to lose their jobs. The evidence is there for all to see.
From the owner on down to management to players themselves, only the coaches should be exempt at this point.
Kind of incredible that the previous yes-man caused a decade of strife here, which lead to a complete reset so CC can move forward and begin afresh.
So, the current regime that has had a huge impact on making additions to an up and coming team that ended up 6th overall in the league only a 1.5 seasons ago to becoming 32nd and dead last... well, you can't rip the last guy to shreds in perpetuity and defend this.

That’s why I said clean house on Feb 6th (or 5th?).
I just don’t know if having an interim guy making trade decisions into the deadline is the smart move over a permanent replacement for JR/PA.

I think this would be the plan. JR is all about keeping the young guns, so whats the harm?
Gives ownership more time to line up a new Pres.

I'd miss his misadventures in pugilism Mëds.
I have to be honest

Right on the money Blades.
Those two should be fired into the sun. You don't get to clean up the mess you created yourself through bad decision-making.

There is still plenty of time for catastrophic ass saving moves to be made.

Even if they sell some vets for picks, send them into the sun before they can trade the picks.
I dunno. I suppose Johnson, as a former player, is enough of an “old boy” that other GM’s would take his calls. And, he’s also unknown enough that other GM’s may not be wise enough to how he negotiates…..
Johnson likely can sell vets with enough competence as an interim guy.

It'd be hard for him to be worse than the status quo. I'd consider that as an interim move.
