Word is, lots of interest in Sherwood from a number of teams but teams are backing off after learning what he wants for his next contract.

Any big trade sending out one of our bigger names has to include Lankinen as a "sweetener".

I guess I’m giving Rutherford and Allvin too much of a hard time.

Arty and Tolo could have been holding it down for pocket change.

There's been nothing wrong with Chefs posting of late.
Blob needs to back off on the vitriol.
He's a long time and welcome member of the site.
But he is not the Chef police.
The chat here has been excellent of late with additional users taking part and new ones trying to be recruited.
I am sure most have noticed that Hank is back full time, let's not drive him away (again) like Topper.
Please chill it the fuck out and keep it that way.

It's true, I can't think of a team that has gone off the rails more quickly than this one.Megaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Mon Dec 08, 2025 9:40 pmYou're really not Chef. This is brutal.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Mon Dec 08, 2025 9:30 pmI guess I’m giving Rutherford and Allvin too much of a hard time.
From being a couple of goals away from the conference finals to missing the dance and now last place in the league.
It's like they had no clue how to proceed after they extended Pettersson and Miller (rightfully) expected that the 5th highest paid player in the league show up ready to earn it and help drive a winning team.
In their confusion they boondoggled the crease, fucked up the center-ice position, and threw a few NTC/NMC contract anchors at the wrong guys.....at the expense of a few potential future assets. All this in a span of what, 18 months?
Oh, and the icing on the cake will be creating an environment that makes it impossible for the best player in franchise history to ignore the media spotlight on the fact that this team hasn't got a snowball's chance in hell at being a contender any time in the next 3 or 4 years.

Blob endured a lot of negativity* while he was one of the few willing to call out the Benning regime as thoroughly as Chef has been with the Rutherford/Allvin administration.
I expect he's still working through the trauma.
But that circles my meandering mind back to the membership issue. Have we any hope of getting Island Knucklehead back?
*or maybe it was trolling. Or what those who posted as Benning believers would now like to pass off as trolling.

Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas
Usually I'm the one stomping the rose-coloured glasses, not handing them out, but if we contemplate a scenario in which the Dickensian Christmas ghosts can work their Scrooge magic on the Little Eagles, and the word comes down to focus on being a contender (or even, an exciting young team on the rise) in 3 to 4 years, I think even an average management team should be able to pull that off.
The Canucks have a few promising young players, which is also evidence that Rutherford/Allvin are at least average at drafting. Now they are heading into what is expected to be a deep draft with what would be -- if the season ended today -- good lottery odds. Repeat that next season, and they could come away with two or more difference-maker level players. The have a few veterans who will still be young enough to contribute in 3 years, and a few others (Sherwood came up recently in this topic) in whom other teams around the League have enough interest to contribute a few more pieces.
There are as many IFs in this scenario as the Canucks had coming into this season -- IF this plan intrigues Hughes, or failing that, IF management can get anything like fair trade value for him, IF Medvedev develops along the more optimistic side of his projection, IF the draft picks hit, IF Franco believes in ghosts; others will occur to the reader -- but it's a way better shot than a snowball in hell.
Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas
I said contender. Not wildcard or 3rd in the division but highly unlikely to get beyond the second round.
