Your post paints an optimistic future - and one that could possibly happen. I think the first chip to fall will be getting a new management team in place to start the rebuild. And soon.
If this new group comes in and shows dedication to a full, quick rebuild - with support from the owners - then they might be able to get a few players to waive their NMC's - would Brock go to Minny vs a few years of bottom dwelling? Not sure we'll be able to unload Petey, unless the whole 'change of scenery' theory gets sold to a team with cap space (Chicago?).
As sad as it is right now to watch them lose continually, I can handle it IF they get on the right path.
Casual fans won't want to watch these games - but there are plenty of hardcore fans who would love to watch the youth develop (at less than full price tickets).

Cheering for them to lose is the new default setting for Canucks fans. It also means we can't complain anymore about the on ice product...this will be the tough part
I agree with Salty that the old man and his man boy need to be sent home. They're not the team we need to change the culture into a drafting and development focused environment. They're still looking to sell futures at any time I swear

Every team in a true rebuild has a knuckle dragger or 2
we have zero.

Any good options out there to replace Jim and Pat?
If we're going that route should be done before the trade deadline so are there any decent managerial types out there?

Burkie
Kidding.
Would Frankie most likely go in-house with Tallon as a stop-gap? Not that I'm advocating for more resuscitation of dinosaurs.

Promote from within. Emilie Castonguay is the best possible candidate.... For us to watch Tops implode.
But seriously, hopefully a guy like Darren Yorke is ready, long time Carolina Exec. might be worth giving a shot.

Interesting... I think anyone who has worked and learned under Dundon and Waddell as a Dir. Player Personnel and Asst. GM in that organization would have some merit.
What you think of internal promotion of Ryan Johnson with the Twins as Asst. GMs?

I think that is certainly a winning group - but not yet, I think Vancouver needs some good experience from a winning culture to get them through a 3-4 year rebuild, that might be a bit dark.
Keeping Johnson on, and then the natural transition as the team moves out of the rebuild to trying to make the playoffs to playoff mainstays, maybe he will be what they need to take the next step to contender.
Putting Canuck HOF players in at the darkest point of a rebuild will only tarnish their reputation, as the losses pile up. Move them into higher management roles along with player development, and then into assistants when the time is right - and they have a bit more experience.

If they don’t commit to a rebuild, then the complaint shall (rightfully) continue.
If they commit, then we are getting what we asked for.

Agree wholeheartedly. It makes sucking far more interesting and helps toughen the kids up.
Recall Marc Crawford used to always throw the pumpkinheaded Sedin kids out against every team's goon line. They ate some serious beatings from tough mofos and came out of it all the stronger for their troubles

Just remember that neither of them were going high speed down the ice. Pushing and shoving in front of the net, and board battles in the corner, are a far cry from running into Scott Stevens as you cross the blueline with your head down, or Tom Wilson’d in open ice while taking (or watching) a pass in full flight (just as Fil).
Not saying the kids don’t need protection. Hell, the Sedins had Brashear and Bert, even Klatt was no pussy.
