Just Not ready

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

If Carney, with his much publicized security clearance, has read the NISCOP Report, only he as PM can act if Chiang is somehow implicated in the report. Singh, Blanchette, May, who have read the report and are sworn to secrecy, have had very little to say about it. Blanchette has been the most vocal of those who have read the report but he deferred to what secrets are hidden in Carney's finances.

Carney comes out saying sitting Liberal MP Chiang asking for Conservative candidate Tay to be taken to the Chinese Consulate for a $1 million HK is a "teachable moment" is laughable but to go on and site that Chiang was a police officer for 28 years only makes it worse. As a veteran police officer, Chiang knew exactly what he was saying.

As Tay has said, this is Chinese tradecraft threats.

An own goal that the Liberals will be rightly hammered on for the coming days.

NDP condemmed Chiang yesterday. They had Jenny Kwan come to the podium to speak as Singh stood silent off to one side. Did Kwan speak because she was born in Hong Kong or because Singh is sworn to silence from reading the NISCOP report. Or both.

First though, Carney has Mayor Gregor introduce him at the rally in Vaughn Ontario where housing was to be the focus. The Vancouver fentanyl pusher who did so well for housing in Vancouver, introduces Carney so he can excuse Chinese interference. Makes one wonder why they excluded casino money laundering Clark from running.

I would figure that a candidate that is reccomending, if not inciting that a fellow candidate be kidnapped and turned over to a foreign government (for advocating for democracy) would be a bridge too far for some, but not for Rikster.

I find it funny that Carney and the media are more concerned about Poilievre's security clearance than they are on following up on a real case of foreign interference. Or in the case of the Tyee, the (crime of )candidates and MPs that talk to other elected members of democracies.

Interesting that the traditional Liberal media houses first stirred up the idea that the Conservatives should move from grocery basket and domestic issues and focus on Trump just as the Carney campaign moves from Trump to domestic issues. Now those same media houses are blaming internal conflict within the Conservative Party for the story.

These media houses are taking a page from Canuck hockey writers where they are trying to make a story instead of report a story..

But, you know we will have counter-tariffs. The optics are too good for Carney to pass up, since the media is intellectually challenged on economic issues. And, it gives Carney a bull shit excuse to put a 25% tax on a bunch of imported products to make his budget look better.

Deflecting?

I addressed the article clearly.... and yes, the source you cited has a long documented history of BC NDP editorial control that needs to be recognized.

Wicksta, how's the Bounty Hunting going?

Sam Cooper is posting pics to his X account of Chiang standing, smiling, next to the Chinese Ambassador at an event this past January. Which is around the time his call for Bounty Hunters was made.

China has impose 100% tariffs on Canadian canola seed and products.

A 25% tariff on Canadian pork and fish products.

Not a word from Carney who secured a $276M loan from the Chinese government for Brookfield last Fall just after Justin hired him to advise the Liberal Party

I'll read the Tyee, Narwhal, Globe and Mail, or National Post, I don't care which way they supposedly lean, I'll judge the article by the contents. That said, I agree the Tyee article was quite weak. Nothing in there nearly as damning as the Chiang fiasco. And I'm leaning Carney right now.

Not doing anything when attacked is not good optics, so yeah, they have to do something.
You don't want the imagery of Marchand punching Sedin in the face with no payback.

Last time Trump wanted a trade war, the EU specifically targeted companies that had supported Trump and industries in red states.
They also avoided tariffs on stuff that would really hurt European consumers.

I think they have already outlined a similar strategy this time.

Canada did the same. Interestingly, untariffed domestic goods competing manufacturers simply raised their priced to matched the tariffed goods or higher taking advantage of the ignorant, buy domestic at any cost, sentiment rife among consumers.

Then Foreign Affairs Minister Joly last December - “This attempt by Hong Kong authorities to conduct transnational repression abroad, including by issuing threats, intimidation or coercion against Canadians or those in Canada, will not be tolerated.”

Mark Carney today in response while backing his Liberal MP and candidate for calling on a Conservative candidate to be kidnapped and handed over the the Chinese Consulate for a bounty, it is "a teachable moment."

Trudeau on his blackface incidents, "a teachable moment."

The Tyee and Narwhal are not remotely credible news sources. Others, while displaying their bias will at least attempt some lipservice to the opposing view. There is no such reporting from the Tyee or the Narwhal. I have found too many incidents where they have written on stories I have a lot of background on, where they have simply made things up.

I don't understand the hatred for everything Musk. What he has done to move science and physics forward in practical ways has not been seen since Edison. It would be similar to say "I won't use light bulbs because Edison did something I don't agree with", while cutting down trees to light your home. The left should be having moral issues with this. Do they boycott Tesla to hurt Musk, even though Tesla has been previously deemed as a Green company that is saving the planet? It's not a moral issue for the Liberals, cuz they don't have morals that I can see.
