Yes. Phoenix screwed up bad. Passed on both Marner and Hannifan. Strome's bad skating means he'll never be a star in the NHL. Marner has elite skill and is a fantastic skater. He was underrated due to his size. The NHL is changing anyways. Small fast guys can be such an asset. They find the room the big lumbering guys don't.

Who was it on here who said Marner would be a complete bust? :D

I'm sure Florida fans thought they had the next Brendan Shanahan when Boothy was scoring 22 goals his rookie season...just saying ;)

Dont come here for reassurance on how awesome your team is...even though this franchise may be the only franchise that can compare to the shittiness of the maple laughs...

Big Tuna your biggest worry should be with Matthews. So far Laine is
Looking like he should have been taken 1st overall. Laine, Werenski and Marner are the top 3 rookies right now. Konecny, Vesey, Nylander may even get more votes than Matthews.

To point out, there's bigger things than just offence. Matthews is the best NHL possession player 5 on 5. He's also shooting less than 10%. He's going to bust out any day.(Matthews leads all NHL players in SOG-he's going to start scoring a lot very soon-probably tonight). He's the opposite of how Richard Panik started the season)

He's still on pace for 57 points. He'll hit 55-60 easily.

You build around a complete #1 centre, not a winger like Laine.

Do I care about rookie of the year? Not really. Crosby and Gretzky never won it.

WAY too early to say Laine should have gone #1. Matthews is a big 200ft two-way centre you build around. It's a fluke he has not scored more the past 3 weeks.

Strome I can judge early, because his skating really does suck. And you can't be a star with that skating. So Marner will always be better (in fact he was better before the draft but people judged him on his size).

Only the senior citizen section of your fan base were cheering the Leaves the last time they won a Cup.

Pretty easy to win the Cup when there were only 6 NHL teams!

I'll have you know Donlever and Damon were around when the Vancouver Millionaires won the Stanley Cup. :hmmm:
Careful dipshit

I fully explained that. Strome has bad skating abilities. He cannot be a star in this league. No such issues for Matthews.

That makes more sense than the "Marner is Too Small" crowd. Slow skating is a killer.
And Marner has outplayed Strome at EVERY level in their careers.

Henrik and Daniel Sedin can barely skate and they managed to lead their teams to within a win of a cup and won mvp trophies on top contenders for years...although if they had been a little quicker they would've likely had their names on the cup more than once during their primes.

Try coming into the league in 2016' with Strome's skating abilities. He simply does not have the overall abilities that Marner does. And again, Marner was actually better in junior despite Strome going 1 spot before.
